I am an optometrist who practices out of state and I needed to find my dad a great surgeon for his cataract surgery and glaucoma evaluation and treatment. My mom recently went to another eye doctor to diagnose what we thought were cataracts. I usually go with her since she doesn't know English super well, but this time she went to a Korean one and felt comfortable. She came back and the doctor was pushing some laser assisted surgery that would put my mom out more than $2,000 out of pocket.

Join us on Thursday, April 27 for a fun-filled evening of spelling (and misspelling) to benefit Reading Partners' literacy efforts in the greater Bay Area! Reading Partners’ annual Bay Area Celebrity Spelling Bee is an unique event that raises funds and awareness for our one-on-one reading tutoring program that supports 2,700 students in 52 reading centers across the greater Bay Area. Spelling Bee guests enjoy a cocktail hour with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres followed by an on-stage spelling competition between five teams—each composed of a leader of innovation and a corporate sponsor. All funds directly support Reading Partners’ one-on-one literacy intervention program in San Francisco, the East Bay, and Silicon Valley.
