And of course they would always tell me I had the best smile, real hair, body, mental yada, yada, yada. And guess what you don’t want them, you want the people that love even the worst parts of you, the gap in your teeth, the scar on your nose, your lazy eye, your morning breath, your cellulite, your stretch marks. The people that you want, are the people that can see you crumble to the worst parts of yourself, wallowing on a hospital floor and will scoop you up and hold you for as long as it takes to put yourself back together. But when the parts that aren’t your best come out, some people will shield their eyes as if you have just forced them to look directly into the sun for hours until their irises burn.
Surviving a Narc is a 4 part series chronicling my years suffering from crippling emotional and psychological abuse in a relationship with a covert narcissist. Then 3 months later in December my Gramma, his mother passed away, followed by her mother in April. What he later told me was that in my grief, the stories I told on social media gave him all the information he needed to know how to approach me and be successful When I look back at that woman and how desperate she was to not have made a bad choice again, to make the best out of a bad situation; I just want to hug her and tell her no man is worth what this man wants to put you through.
, she had me when she was 17 and turned 18 the same year like I did with Dom, but my mom didn’t breastfeed me, I breastfed Dom for a little over a year, so far I’m winning. I knew for sure no matter what I’m was never going to abandon my daughter like my mother abandoned me when I needed her most. I had struggled for so long to connect to my dad, to feel like a part of him and my daughter became the conduit for healing what my mother had broken in us both. In the beginning being a mother meant not being anything like my mom; as I got older it became being every amazing thing my dad was.
About 15 years ago I began to see professional skin care providers (esthetician’s, dermatologists, medispa practitioners etc) and I learned how important it is to have a specified skin care regimen. Ingredients like Vitamin C, Retin A, Hyaluronic, Glycolic and Salicylic acids all play different parts in keeping my skin looking youthful and slowing down the aging process. Over the years I encountered other MediSpa brands like Obagi and Neostrata that are still somewhat pricey but easier to obtain, and since the expansion of online beauty retailers like Skin Care Rx and Dermstore I can obtain mostly any of the designer labels at a fraction of what I used to pay. Currently Jan Marini Bioglycolic wash for oily skin is still my all time favorite face wash, she also has one for normal skin which isn’t as drying.
