Cheers to #WineWednesday! It’s the perfect day to share one of the newest wineries I’ve discovered : Red Tail Ridge Winery. This stunning winery is located in Penn Yan, NY, along the western shore of Seneca Lake and there are a few things that make it extra special: 🦅 The name Red Tail Ridge comes from the pair of red-tailed hawks that were spotted above the forest that was previously there. Red-tailed hawks are still seen soaring above the property often. 🪵 The trees that were cut down on the property were saved and repurposed to build the beautiful, brand new tasting room. (See the background of photos 2 and 3.) 🍇 The winemaker is a woman! Nancy Irelan has an extensive history in viticulture and is proud to be one of the females that makeup less than 18% of all winemakers. 🍷 Their Perpetuelle Change wine is a constantly changing wine, as the name suggests. The artwork on the label depicts the evolution from dinosaurs to raptors (another nod to the hawks). 💰 They give back! Red Tail Ridge is very focused on community. 10% of the sales from their Good Karma wine gets donated to local charities. 🐕 The tasting room is dog-friendly. Is there anything better than beer with a view? This #WaterfallWednesday were heading to the oldest brewery in New York, Genesee Brew House. It also happens to have one of the best views! Genesee Brewery was founded in 1878 in downtown Rochester, right across from High Falls. And over 160 years later they are still serving up award-winning beers. Of course, you can get Genesee beers at your local grocery stores. But you can only try their experimental brews and the phenomenal brews right in Rochester. The first floor features the gift shop and pilot brewery. The second floor has a restaurant, and the rooftop has the views! PS don’t miss out on their annual Christmas celebrations with the lighting of their keg tree! What’s your favorite Genesee beer? 🍻

Did my friends and I time Total Eclipse of the Heart so that the chorus played right when totality started? Yes we did. Well it certainly wasn’t the weather we all hoped for, but it was still an incredible experience! Full credit to my husband for the first photo - with the corona of totality behind a flock of birds - because he somehow had a slightly better view from the parking lot of Home Depot in East Syracuse than I did at the lakefront 😂 Photos 2, 3, and 4 are from my view during the eclipse at Willow Bay. It’s waterfall chasing season! Everyone knows about Watkins Glen State Park, but did you know that just a few minutes away there are several more waterfalls to see that are (mostly) FREE and accessible?! The village of Montour Falls is located just south of Watkins Glen and it boasts its own series of waterfalls for visitors and locals to enjoy. The best part? They are mostly free and easy to get to in a few short steps.
