This was my walk to @crabshackdabaso! Since I've been abroad, I've been eating out A LOT! I'm sure some of you have noticed. Well, this past weekend was a little rough for me (a story for another day) so I wanted to flashback to this dope restaurant experience. It was all for the views and experience, and def worth it! But, I didn't remember to take a pic of the food 🤦🏾‍♀️ Anyway, til tomorrow✌🏾

Beach Vibes. Kenyan Edition. It’s funny, I don’t remember the first time I went to the beach. I think I was at least a teen, I might have even been in college. Quite honestly, if someone offered me one million dollars right now to recollect my first beach day, I couldn’t do it. That’s the funny thing about life, you’ll experience amazing, monumental events in your lifetime but years later, memories will become hazy. So live in the moment. Journal. Blog. Post photos 🤗 And continue creating new memories because you’ll eventually forget some of the old ones 😂 #kenya #instaphotos #beachvibes #blackcontentcreators #lifestylebloggers #inspirationalblogger #melaninlifestyle #melaninrich #blacktravel #blacktravelfeed #travel #travelnoire #urbaneventtravel

I've got sunshine on a cloudy year... 2020/2021 has been cloudyyyyy, but I've learned to appreciate the small things on a whole new level. Spending time with loved ones, sitting outside, or simply giving a hug. Let's never take these things for granted again. P.S. I sincerely hope my posts are giving you a little bit of sunshine. ☺️🌞 What else has been brightening your days?

Today’s message. Recognize your privilege and use it to help others when you can...but don’t let yourself get played. Traveling through Africa, I’m recognizing that I have a level of privilege simply because I’m coming from abroad. My current mission is to figure out ways to use that privilege to create opportunities, even if it’s as simple as supporting local artisans and sellers. But remember...don’t get played! My guy in the second clip tried to charge me to take pics in a boat that wasn’t his 😂 📍bofa beach @saltys.kite.village #supportblackbusiness #travelblogger #travelnoire #kenya #beachvibes #blackgirlmagic #blackbloggers

Location: @the.food.movement Storytime: My friend and I were traveling through the coast of Kenya, in Kilifi. After booking an eco lodge that was a little to eco for our taste, we made a last minute accommodations change. This change led us to two other travelers from Nairobi. The next day they invited us to @the.food.movement, and on a whim we took a boda (small motorcycles) there. I ate some very amazing fish tacos, and all because of a little spontaneity and friendliness. Hoping you experience a little bit of spontaneous friendly energy this week.

This is the blank stare I give when news outlets like @BBC try to insinuate that Africa is not struggling with covid because of extreme poverty... After coming to the continent and experiencing Africa in the covid era, there are much more plausible reasons aside from the people are so poor they aren't capturing the data. 1. The average age in many African countries is lower (i.e. Kenya ~ 20 yrs vs U.S. ~ 35 yrs) 2. Presence of other similar diseases have given Africans more of an immunity 3. Lower tourism rates to Africa meant less exposure 4. Aggressive border closures and curfews

@the_village_market was actually a vibe. I don't usually like visiting malls as a tourist destination, but I think this one is worth it. #thevillagemarketnairobi #kenya #travelnoire #blackbloggers #melanintravel #blacktravelfeed #mytravelcrush #igersnairobi

Take 2. Travel is my favorite form of therapy, and after a long deferred dream, I decided to figure out a new travel normal that still allows me to realize my current goals but still keeps me safe and responsible. Yesterday was my second time at @steakoutrestaurant in Nairobi. Steaks are their specialty of course but their outdoor seating area is dope!! Photo worthy background as you can see. I thought I had a vid to show off all of it but alas....you can stare at my face instead. The only issue is that they require you to order a main course, if you don't, they charge you a cover 😯 What is the weirdest business policy you've ever encountered when traveling? #nairobi #nigerianblogger #travelnoire #travelblogger #foodinnairobi #storyteller

Aspiring blogger and nomad here. Why do I say aspiring? I've been in Kenya a month now and this is my first post of the trip, even though I have all these gems in my gallery. I wanted to wait until I had written a few blog posts to accompany my IG posts...and a month later here we are. So with this post, I'm removing aspiring. Let's just start, we'll figure out the rest as we go. #nairobi #socialhouse #kenya #nigerianblogger #travelblogger #nomad #funemployed #comethroughtoafrica #travelnoire #motivation #justdoit

Part 4, Chapter 28. Yesterday I turned 28, and according to the theory of life's 7-year cycles, I am in the last year of my refinement stage. Truth be told I do feel like I've done a tremendous amount of unlearning and removal of 'impurities' so to speak. It feels good. It feels affirming. I feel ready for the next stage in life, and I feel fortunate. So maybe we should be counting life in 7-year increments instead of decades? Lol. R E C H A R G E. An empty vessel cannot pour into another. During your creative journey, sometimes you'll need to take time off to recharge, restrategize and refocus. Don't rush the process and don't feel guilty for doing so. I was struggling but I'm back from my recharge 🎉 I know it's been an exhausting week, month and year. Give yourself permission to charge up. #recharge #selfcare #selftherapy #positiveenergy #blackgirlblogger #africangirlskillingit #nigerianblogger #chargeup #motivation

Nelson Mandela made this statement in an interview with Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed because he was not happy with Nigeria. Despite help during Apartheid, Mandela said that Nigerian leaders had no respect for their people and took people's resources to turn into their own personal wealth. Yet, in response to South Africa being considered an alternative beacon of hope for the black race, Mandela said it was always going to be Nigeria. But why Nigeria? It may have something to do with the fact that Nigeria is the largest Black nation in the world, 20% of the world's Black population is Nigerian, up to 80% of Black Americans have Nigerian heritage, it's a top oil producer, it was an epicenter of the transatlantic slave trade, and despite various mismanagement, it's the largest economy in Africa. It's time. Idk if y'all really understand how crucial this is and how large of an impact a stable and prosperous Nigeria would have for Black people. Let's continue to educate, amplify, protest, and donate. #endsars protest is the first of many to come. Current Nigerian leaders need to step up or step down from their positions. I'm a proud Nigerian-American, a member of two distinct dope ass cultures. I care about things that happen worldwide but these two nations will almost always get more of my attention, and quite honestly, the events that have been happening in both (for years I might add) are disheartening. Police brutality and large wealth inequalities are issues in both, but my generation is tired of waiting for things to hopefully change. The current events, protests, activism, and political participation are giving me life! Nigeria's condition irks me the most though because I just want to see a black nation flourish. Imagine if African nations got it together and OWNED their resources. THEY could advocate for Black Americans, they could advocate for melanated people around the world. Imagine Nigeria telling the U.S. to put better policies in place for Black Americans and African immigrants or we're going to limit exports to you. Imagine if African nations were actively leading foreign affairs instead of being passive casualties of it. That's what Black Panther was about, right? Well we don't have to JUST imagine it. Let's freaking live it. Photo cred: @photovirtuoso #endsars #endpolicebrutality #blacklivesmatter #endcorruptioninnigeria #nigerianblogger
