Often times we want to compare ourselves to who we were years ago. I’m no longer doing that. I may have LOOKED my best at 22 but my mind wasn’t the best at all. I no longer desire to look or be my 22 year old self. 10 years later with a child, I simply love being who I am NOW! SN: I took that photo yesterday. I still need to get my behind in the gym. lol

When it happens at varying stages of life, a different set of physical, psychological, and social challenges will arise. For Jada, it's her menopausal stage. Chris Rock made a documentary called GOOD HAIR. This documentary explored the nuances black women go through to attain a false narrative that long and straight hair or loose wavey hair is the best hair. Whether Rock knew of Jada's specific challenges is irrelevant. He knew that it is a huge problem in the black community. The joke was tacky and irresponsible. Everyone saying Will was wrong IMO, lack empathy. These Facebook degrees got y'all messed up. 1 Corinthian 15... but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. I personally have cradled, comforted, and prayed with many women over the condition of their hair. I also imagine the endless nights Will had to comfort his wife as clumps of hair fell from her scalp. I see him feeling hopeless as she take pills with horrible side effects in an attempt to thwart the inevitable. Imagine witnessing your loved one taking painful injections in the head only to see the hope fade because they aren't working. I can see Jada painfully questioning GOD, why me? I know all too well the unpleasant conversations she has with herself in the mirror. Will is watching, comforting, assuring her his love is greater than her hair loss. Reiterating how beautiful and attractive she is. The kisses on the head while she comes to terms with losing something that's beyond her control. We live in a society that will mock and ridicule a woman for NOT wearing a wig before we'd embrace a woman for not wearing one. What Chris thought was a joke, is equivalent to a school yard bully making fun of a sick person. It's all fun and games until the bullied has had enough. When they strike back the ownership is on the bullied to express control, never on the bully. That slap was for all of the bullies. I needed this message today. Earlier today I was going to post the question, What do you need to become the best version of yourself in 2022 and immediately REST came to mind. I don’t give my mind and body enough rest as I should. I overthink entirely too much and it’s hard for the mind to rest when you’re constantly overthinking. On top of that overthinking breeds worry, doubt, stress, anxiety, depression, all those things that keeps you from being your best self. This is why I’m proud of myself for getting back to my yoga & meditation journey because it challenges me to slow down, to be mindful, to be in present moment which all contributes to helping me rest more. While listening to @queenafua speak via @breakfastclubam, she made a very valid statement that resonated with me. “Eating healthy isn’t expensive, being sick is.” I always hear or see people say via social media that eating healthy is expensive. Those who think that way are often those who eat a lot of fast food or unhealthy food. You cannot compare a $8 combo meal at Burger King or a 4 for $4 at Wendy’s to the cost of fruits and veggies. When the mind and body is unhealthy, one will believe this to be true for them. It will cost you far more being sick than it will ever cost you to be healthy. I’m in no shape or form against anyone who eats meat & dairy because I too eat them from time to time, however, from my experience of consuming a plant based diet for 3 years straight versus a diet that included meat, purchasing meat & dairy are far more expensive than fruits, veggies, & herbs will ever be. I’m guilty of slacking on my water intake at times. #NoShame However I am constantly reminded by my body through fatigue, low energy, bloating, chapped lips, constipation, brain fog, etc, why it’s important, especially during certain times of the day. So today I want to share with you 6 reasons why you should #DrinkMoreWater as soon as you wake up. 1. Drinking water as soon as you wake up is a good way to replenish your body with the hydration that it needs to properly function. 2. Because your brain contains so much water, drinking it as soon as you wake up is beneficial for obtaining alertness & brain activity. 3. Drinking water on an empty stomach helps eliminate bacteria that may cause illnesses. 4. Drinking water as soon as you wake up may reduce the number of calories eat for breakfast b/c you will be full. 5. Drinking water as soon as you wake up can help prevent kidney stones and bladder infections. 6. Drinking water as soon as you wake up increases your chances of taking a 💩 (you’ve got to get all that stuff out hunni) The best way to make this is habit is by keeping a bottle or glass of water by your bed so you can drink it as soon as you wake up.
