Masiela Lusha is an award-winning film and television actress, author, and humanitarian. While Masiela has performed in over thirty film and TV projects throughout her career, she is best known for her role as Carmen Lopez on the globally syndicated and Emmy nominated ABC/Warner Brothers sitcom, GEORGE LOPEZ. As an author, Masiela has written four poetry volumes: Inner Thoughts, Drinking the Moon, The Living Air, and Boopity Boop Writes her First Poem. Masiela has also written two novels: The Besa and The Journals of Olympia Pole. At the age of twelve, Masiela was recognized as the youngest author in the world to publish a book in two languages, and received the formal recognition of former President Clinton.

From an early age, Masiela has dedicated her life to humanitarian work. Galvanized by her personal experiences as a refugee, Masiela strives to instill deeper meaning in her film career. From the age of 14, Masiela was appointed spokesperson for Scholastic’s Read for Life program, focusing her time on PSAs and school visits across the country to promote reading. She also served as the national spokesperson for ABC’s Great American Bake Sale, a hunger relief program.

Masiela also served as Ambassador to three international youth causes. In 2010, she was appointed goodwill ambassador to Prince Harry’s charity, Sentebale. She was also appointment the World Assembly of Youth’s Goodwill Ambassador in 2013. Recognized with consultative status 1 with the United Nations, WAY is a body of national youth councils focused on children’s issues including gender equality, health, and cultural tolerance. Masiela also supported Athgo, a cause dedicated to international youth entrepreneurship and global innovation. In 2017, Masiela served on the board of Uncommon Good. While less than half of children in this socioeconomic class attend college, the Uncommon Good mentorship program has a perfect 100% success rate in college acceptances.

Masiela graduated high school at 15, and earned an English degree at the University of California Los Angeles.
