This is a Geluxe trip from @gadventures through Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Geluxe is a 🆕 type of small group tour that focuses on exploring local communities and cultures, and keeping tourism dollars in those communities. These itineraries are active but comfortable, with upgraded accommodations. In April I had the chance to travel through Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula with @gadventures on a press preview of their new Geluxe brand. Geluxe tours are premium active adventures that focus on local communities and culture. While the only age requirement is 18+, these tours are attracting a mostly over-40 crowd, including lots of solo female travelers. I swam in uncrowded cenotes, floated in a canal wearing an upside down life vest, ate the best tortillas of my life, explored Mexican towns, and stared down a crocodile from a kayak. Even better, I met some fantastic people who helped make the trip unforgettable. I just booked Columbus to Newark to London for 60k Aeroplan points plus ~ $50 in taxes/fees in United Polaris business class for my mom’s birthday trip! I had American business booked already but this was cheaper, included the positioning flight to EWR, and was in Polaris business class, which I haven’t tried yet. That’s a win-win-win. Thankfully AA allows free cancellations so I booked this new flight the second I saw it. I found this space through @seatsaero after I set up an alert for exactly what I wanted. It’s the details that can transform an experience from good to amazing. I was recently invited to try out the FrangiCat II, a boat just for guests at Frangipani Resort in Anguilla. The staff heard they had a guest on that day’s trip that didn’t drink alcohol (spoiler: it was me). So they stocked the bar with Heineken 0.0 🍺 and didn’t pre-mix the rum into the rum punch. This small gesture was so simple, but so thoughtful. I was so appreciative that I had more drink options than just water. The staff didn’t have to do that, and I still would have enjoyed the trip. But this small detail helped to elevate my experience so much.
