i don’t need to take up space… but here’s what i’ve been thinking about: we need to learn the history and context, sit with nuance, participate in movements - not social media monologues, separate people from people in power, spend more time praying and less time scrolling, check in with our Palestinian and Jewish friends, and maybe go eat some berries in a cave. 🕊️

girl math 🧮 1. buying two purses before moving to ny because i didn’t want to look like a school girl but then quickly realized that my portable monitor, laptop, two notebooks, book, and water bottle would break my back unless i got a backpack so spent even more money getting the most adult backpack i could find 2. renting a car to go to nj for a work event but being so late that i just took it to ikea to get veggie balls 3. missing texas

I‘ve got some nutty facts about almonds and fighting climate change for you. You may have heard that almonds have a lower carbon footprint than other popular foods, but do you know why? Not only do almond trees naturally capture and store tons of carbon, almond farmers in California are using new techniques that mean their orchards remove even more CO2 from the air—listen up for more. 🌰 🥜 Learn more about #growingalmonds at @growingalmonds #ad

had the best time speaking to @georgiatech students for the launch of the NEW interdisciplinary Environmental Science program at @georgiatecheas 🐝 🥹 - Providing encouragement to students pursuing climate work in these times is SUCH a joy… as is connecting with brilliant professors who have dedicated their lives to research 🔬 and guiding this generation of future climate professionals. - Also absolutely need to gas up the Kendeda Building (energy net positive last year by 227% !! AND water positive with full composting and a local water treatment facility to be fully circular 🔁) … TRULY the blueprint 📚 - - - #scienceeducation #georgiatech #environmentalscience #climateoptimism

Almonds are often associated with the amount of water they require. But did you know that the water used for almonds actually grows 4 crops: the kernel that we eat, along with the tree itself, a hard shell, and fuzzy outer hull (like a peach skin!)? I visited a family-owned farm in California to learn about how almond farmers have been championing practices that conserve water and prevent waste, and here’s what I learned: 🌸 90% of almond farms in California are family farms, many run by third- and fourth-generation farmers 🌸 adopting microirrigation and other water-saving technology has helped them use 33% less water than they did two decades ago. In 2018 they set a goal to reduce by another 20% and are already 75% of the way there! 🌸 they’re finding even more sustainable uses for almond co-products (hulls and shells), moving from using them for animal feed to making delicious upcycled coffee and snacks Learn more about #growingalmonds at @growingalmonds #ad #almonds
