Highlights
Sanji Lighthouse (Jeju)

Under the reign of King Sukjong, the 19th king of the Joseon Dynasty, Jeju province governor at that time, Lee Hyeong-sang dispatched a painter Kim Nam-gil to write tamna Sullyeokdo (a book of paintings depicting various events held in 1702). Spending time away from bustling city life in Seoul (or wherever you hail from) is something that I truly treasure, especially since I live in a tiny, modernized city-state where everything moves so quickly. If you have about an hour to spare or are wondering whether this stop is worth getting off for, I say definitely take the time to come here and enjoy the scenery. [Bus] From Jeju International Airport Bus, take Bus No. 300 and get off at Mountain Lighthouse bus stop.

My Guide to Korea’s Café & Beverage Chains

You can find this coffee chain almost everywhere in Korea, although I would think it’s more prevalent in Seoul (correct me if I’m wrong). An Italian coffee chain surely serves good coffee, but what I really want to share is their fantastic bingsu, which is really as good as Sulbing’s. Its shops offer espresso, coffee, tea, coffee- and tea-based cold and hot specialty drinks, a variety of pastries and other snacks, and coffee supplies. There are 2 notable exceptions: Paik’s Coffee, and Mega Coffee. Mega Coffee serves truly GIGANTIC drinks.

Onedang Gamjatang (Myeongdong 1)

It’s really convenient for tourists, + I have member’s discount & loyalty points for Skypark Myeongdong, so I might as well, right? Now, while it’s not exactly located in the prime shopping area, I have to admit that its location is super good, because I’ve seen a lot of hotel guests duck straight into here, especially in the cold winter months. Granted, we didn’t really order this restaurant’s specialty dishes (Pork bone & potato soup), but even their recommended pancake wasn’t super duper amazing or anything, It’s a convenient place to eat at, but I think for the prices they charge and the taste they deliver, you definitely have much better choices elsewhere in Myeongdong where you should spend those won & calories at.

Iho Tewoo Beach (Jeju)

We hadn’t exactly planned our Jeju itinerary at that time, but one of the stops on the Jeju Golden City Bus Tour was Iho Tewoo Beach, and we knew we couldn’t miss this chance. I’m actually very glad that we didn’t look at the photos of this beach on KTO’s website before we decided to come here, because those on the official website look quite, erm, unappealing. This beach is actually very accessible, being located close to Jeju City, and I highly encourage you to come in late spring & any time in summer (I’m not sure if beaches are a thing in winter tbh).
