I run The Sabbatical Guide, the most comprehensive website in the world on the topic of sabbaticals and career breaks. I'm not part of the 'I quit my job to travel the world' brigade, far from it. I love having the security of a career, but I also love to travel and spend more time with my family. I also write detailed destination guides, travel tips and have a love of photography which goes perfectly with travel, as it allows me to share photos of some amazing places.
πΈ πΈ πΈ One of the biggest excuses people give for not seeing the world is that itβs too expensive. They believe that they need to be earning a huge salary or win some kind of lottery to travel abroad, but thatβs simply not true. πππ Oliver's been to just over 40 countries in the last 5 years, earning only a little more than minimum wage between travels. He knows itβs possible. https://thesabbaticalguide.com/how-to-travel-the-world-without-being-rich/
π·π° A sabbatical doesn't have to break the bank (just listen to Emily and Ian)... "Although we travelled through many expensive European countries, our trip was actually very affordable. All in all, we spent about 50 nights in our tent, and camping typically cost about 10 euros per person per night." https://thesabbaticalguide.com/5-month-sabbatical-hiking-in-europe/
π± It hurts looking back at this piece now, as our little cat tapped out a little while ago after 16 loyal years. But it's packed full of useful info on what to do with your pet when you head off travelling, so it'd be wrong not to keep sharing it! https://thesabbaticalguide.com/pets-and-sabbaticals/
All roads have been leading to here. The final big moment of a trip full of big moments. A quite staggering place. UNESCO Site number 77 might well be the best so far. #mountfuji #lakekawaguchiko #iconicjapan #japanphotography #ig #nippon #japanlife #japanlover #discoverjapan #japanculture #japantravelphoto #ilovejapan #visitjapanjp #unescoworldheritage
π°π°π° How much does a sabbatical cost? For a simple and up front answer, we managed to travel for 3 months in Southeast Asia for Β£7,200 or around Β£79 a day. We paid for the main flights a long way in advance so this didnβt feel like a cost as the time, the Β£7,200 was the cost of day-to-day travel, hotels, good and experiences whilst on the move. https://thesabbaticalguide.com/personal-sabbatical/
