How do I curl my hair? I get this question all the time. I start at the back of my head and just keep parting until I get to the front. When I do the sides, I hold the curling iron straight up and fan the curl out to the back of my head. The whole process takes me maybe 15 minutes max if I’m doing larger sections of hair. It takes me 20 minutes if I am doing small sections. From time to time I like to part out a little hair in front of my ear and curl that. In this reel, I’m using a 1 ¼ inch curling iron, but, I do like to use a 1 inch barrel curling iron depending on how tight I want my curls that day. Edge control with an edge control brush is always required.  I’m not into the baby hairs trend though, just keeping my edges laid is good enough for me. Pre covid… I had longer hair…and then I cut it all off on accident one day taking down my crochet braids. Can you guess how long it took me to learn how style my new cut without looking like a blonde Q tip?

Eboni K Williams-would you dare a bus driver?

What am I supposed to wear on all these patios? A dress of course! I headed to Amazon  to find some options and fell in love with these 3. Best part about them all? They’re all under $30. Don’t be surprised when you see me out in one of these looks.  Which one is your fave? Check out my link in bio for my Amazon Store

April Recap! + I had a trip to Florida and got a boozy coconut snow cone + Checked out Islands of Adventure + Checked out Daicha’s new art gallery + Had a photoshoot at Makers Gym + Experienced the EYEboretum at the giant eyeball in the park What was your favorite part about April?

Entrepreneur updates- This ish is hard! I’m making moves but, its exhausting balancing my 9 to 5 with my own ventures. The good news is, I finished my website, registered my business with the state, and a stranger in the middle east is working on my logo via Fiverr. Shout out to everyone that gave me their input in my logo journey!   My first two clients are fantastic and they enjoy my work so, Im praying they hire me again, soon! The bad news is, this content creation life for myself is slacking! It’s hard to create for others and keep the same energy for yourself when your creative muscles have already been spent. I still want to do all the things though so… I’m regrouping. What kind of content would you like to see from me? Please let me know in the comments!

Weekend Photo Dump What a time I had the last 4 days! Thursday- I ended up at a Ladies Night with @dallasites101. When I say ended up... I mean I purchased a ticket and voluntarily went. That transcended into reverse happy hour at STK. (Did you know STK has a reverse happy hour?) Friday night I had dinner meeting and got an amazing Harvest Bowl at @chelseacornerdallas. The rest is sketch since there are no photos. Saturday I attempted and executed quite well, a make up look I saw on the clock app! Headed to a white party at the Aviation Center. Apparently, all the girls were excited to see Slick Rick since they were standing on tables in stilettos. I witnessed relationship goals when this man carried his wife to the car on his back since her feet hurt so bad. (adding this to Ciara's revised Noella's Prayer for my future husband. "be strong enough to carry me piggy back") Sunday I had a photoshoot at @makersgym (don't fret... reel coming soon. The space is stunning!) Since I've acted like I'm 25 for 4 days straight, my body is laughing at me so now I'm in recovery. I'd like to say don't invite me anywhere, but we all know that's a lie. I'll take each day one at a time. SMH. How was your weekend? Were your responsible and went out 1x or did you just go where the wind blew?

What did I learn in March? So many things! I started my own business and I was terrified. Still am. But I did it. I did it scared. So here’s your message to do it scared too.

#DatingChronicles It finally happened. I got hit on by a white man. Let's talk about Tom. We met at a coffee shop while I was working remote from my actual home office, for once. We bonded over fundraising galas we'd been to mainly for the free booze and silent auctions. He kept complimenting me on my hair and my outfit. Then he started telling me stories about women he dated. When he asked me to write my number down on a scrap piece of paper, I was confused, but I did it anyway. He never called. Just texted twice and asked me on date. Where'd we go? A restaurant (I've been wanting to go to) between Oaklawn and Cedar springs! RED FLAG #1. I arrive. He has on a wrinkled green shirt, Faded Glory black jeans, , dirty new balance sneakers, and a heavy coat- but it was not cold. Confused at his attire, I let it go. The conversation did not flow. We could not find anything in common. I ordered a small charcuterie board. He ordered a bowl of soup, deviled eggs, and steamed artichoke. I ate 4 cubes of cheese and 2 grapes. He ate all of his food and mine. I was able to see the meal digest properly since he talked with food in his mouth the entire, so I know he's diligent at chewing. In the midst of all that, he continued to compliment me the entire time. and inquired about where I buy my clothes and if I was a natural blonde. RED FLAG #2. The check comes. He puts down his debit card to pay the check. The waitress comes back and says, oh... "your card didn't go all the way through." You still owe $30.52. Why was that the cost of my charcoochie board and champagne? RED FLAG #3. Whatever. this was the end. Ladies, if you're sad about your dating life. just know. I went on a date with a white (probably gay) man that all my charcuterie, didn't share, and made me pay for it in a bad way. Have you ever been on a date you wanted to end quickly? What would you have done in this situation? What could I have done differently?

Come with me to Bonton Farms! This has been on my list of places to go for brunch for a while and I finally got the time! I was really excited about this place because I heard great reviews about how it’s the epitome of farm to table and every tastes super fresh. It was a beautiful day so I was determined to sit on the patio. When I arrived there was a little bit of a wait but, while you wait, the staff encoruages you to check out the goats, chickens, fresh produce in the market, and the coffee shop. In them midst of waiting, we got a tour of the micro farm too. Who knew id be so happy to stand in the middle of a cabbage patch! When we got seated for brunch, I had the fried green tomatoes and crawfish salad. it ws AMAZING. My friend had the chorizo omelet which was super fresh and fluffy from the chickens eggs from the coop! Have you been to Bonton Farms yet? What was your favorite part?

Come with me to Pressed Roots! I don’t mind washing my hair myself but I definitely hate having to straighten it myself. I’ve been to other salons that do blow outs, but this one is my favorite because they cater to textured hair and I can walk out with my edges laid. It’s even more of a perk that it’s black owned! There’s 3 locations in Dallas and it’s really easy to book online. They offer a silk press, but they offer several add ons line a trim, deep condition, or steam treatment. Do you have a young daughter that needs a wash and press? They cater to children too! Have you checked out Pressed Roots yet? Which location have you tried?

Weekend Recap Saturday was a Blur! + My niece had a 9am soccer game. Trying to be a good TT, I made sure to be there. (No I was not the culprit behind the hot pink shoes. That was all her! PS. Is that not the cutest little slogan the fields have?!) + I had a friend brunch date with my boo @serioussunshine at Bonton Farms in South Dallas. It's the epitome of farm to table. They have a microfarm on site with all the fresh veggies on site, along with goats and chickens. I had the crawfish salad for my entree and it was probably the best salad I have ever had. It was sooo fresh! + That evening, I met up with my sorority sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha to surprise our sister and friend Raven for her milestone birthday at Pappasito's. After that I was wiped so yeah.... Sunday I napped... and watched basketball. No Photo needed to document the level of casualness after church. How was your weekend? Were you out on a patio or did you chill for the weekend?
