The Adventure Park at Long Island! Our birthday tradition continues and this time it’s Ben turn! This little boy has come to @ziplongisland so many times as a patient brother playing along in the (super fun) playground while his siblings and mom climb in the trees. But today was finally the day when he got to join the big kids! It’s his seventh birthday which is the minimum age to climb! He did awesome, was so brave, and had the best time kicking off his birthday weekend at one of his most requested places. As always my favorite course was Grand Rapids (Go Blue!) with it’s 9 zip lines. Ben loved it too! …Even if he didn’t weigh enough to win against gravity at the end of some lines and we had to lift him up half the time to get the trolly to reach the cable. (Omg could he be any cuter?) The Adventure Park is not only a fun place to get exercise and spend some time outside, but a good time all around. Plus the music was exceptional tonight - like the perfect mix of 80s and 90s hits. And the lights were gleaming. Finally, the staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful we didn’t want to leave. Literally. Thank you for another awesome night. We can’t wait to come back for the next birthday in October! Looking for summer s’mores? Go climb on a firepit Friday! The Statue Of Liberty Crown! After refreshing and refreshing, and refreshing some more we FINALLY got Crown Reserve tickets for the Statue Of Liberty! I’ve wanted to do this for as long as I can remember and it only just reopened to the public a few months ago. Yay!! It was less hard than I thought to walk up the 162 stairs… in her tiny narrow staircase… but I don’t know if I’d rush to do it again. 😆 It was super cool to see all the carved ripples in the inside of the statue. It was even more cool to see NY and Lady Liberty’s 4th of July tablet looking down from above in the crown. I love that after living in New York for so long there’s still new things for me to see and do. This was also another US National park offering the Junior Ranger program so my kids gobbled it up and added another badge to their collection. Plus with all tours you get an awesome NY harbor boat ride and then a trip to Ellis Island where you can learn all about immigrants (including our relatives) who came to America from 1892 to 1954. Such a cool thing to do. Such a unique activity. Luv Pizza NYC! I've been dying to try @luvpizzanyc in the @moxytimessquare since they opened last year. Why? Because it combines two of my favorite things - street art and pizza! This beautifully decorated place is delicious for your eyes while you wait until it's delicious for your belly. Even better - they're located right by Penn Station so it's the perfect spot to grab a slice before or after your travels. We enjoyed one of their heart shaped pizzas - quickly becoming their most famous (and photogenic) dish - for a pre-theater lunch. We topped it with fresh mozzarella, ricotta, mushrooms, spinach and pesto. Omg. Yum. Then, since it’s happy hour all day, I had a @flybirdcocktails Prickly Pear Margarita because, why not! I'm so happy we finally got to try this pizza! Before @lifeofpibway we had this pi(e)! Does that work? 😆 They also have a full vegan menu and gluten free options. The super fun hearts all over are by @jgoldcrown The amazingly friendly staff was led by the great @monte212 Plus the fantastic music, wow. Best playlist ever. As Mario said, stop by - they are all about love and spreading the love one slice at a time. Simply the best. Additionally, the garlic knot was the size of my fist. Kimberly Akimbo On Broadway! What an existential show to see on my birthday! I heard such great things about @akimbomusical a @shubertorg show currently at The Booth Theater and was so happy to take in one of her matinees. The show is about a girl with a disease that makes her age four times faster than she should. But she won't let it define her or her life. The show follows her sunny outlook despite all the negative stuff going on around her. In addition - despite the plot being somewhat heavy - it was done so well that it came off as light and fun. It ends on a high note, leaving you feeling the need to seize the day. ...And go to @sfgradventure Plus the skating in the beginning reminded me of another show I saw on my birthday - Starlight Express... in 1987. Congrats to the show for the eight @thetonyawards nominations and six @broadwaycom Audience Choice Awards including for @victoriajclark @beltingbons @justin.cooley The whole cast is fantastic including @steveboyer5000 @alli_mauzey Olivia Elease Hardy, @fernellhogan @mickoola @iamninawhite even better I see some of these guys even are fellow @uofmichigan alum! 🌺Happy Mother’s Day! Middle’s gift was THE BEST. I laughed so hard I took him out for lunch at the beach. There was live music, shade & açaí bowls. I couldn’t have asked for more. Next we went to a mom & pop nursery I’ve passed a zillion times and thought it would be fun to finally stop there. They had the tye dye flowers I’ve been trying to find everywhere! Then it all came together with a great bbq and a feta stuffed turkey burger. Thanks chef for a great dinner. So grateful to celebrate the day with my kids and the night with my mom. During this 2-hour collective beauty experience - led by a Korean Tea Master - we entered a place of mindfulness, gratitude, and beauty, rounded out by enjoying their delicious tea and buffet of colorful Korean treats.
