It’s Inauguration Day It’s Inauguration Day for a man that I don’t support. A man who’s views I don’t agree with, who’s has proposed policies that worry me. A man who has been, in my opinion, in politics way too long and has been part of causing many of the issues we have today. But, it’s Inauguration Day. Unlike people before me, I’m not going to say he’s not my President just because I did not support his Presidential run. I respect the position he now holds. Mr Biden - I wish you luck. I hope in the next 4 years, you prove me wrong. I hope to see our country thrive, divisions weaken, and common decency restored.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?” “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” Martin Luther King Jr., is one of my favorite people because he shows how a person can make mistakes in his life & yet, still do good. Today should be a day that causes you to stop, think, & reflect on yourself, your actions, & how you can be better. There’s so many of his teachings that we could take note of today. The way we treat each other & interact with each other - we have so much we can learn. We always have room to do better.
How’s everyone else’s day going...? This is mine ☕️ Decided an afternoon coffee sounded like a good idea - apparently it wasn’t lol I have grounds everywhere... even the inside of my oven 🙈🙊 So, if you needed a little giggle today ... here it is. I’m choosing to laugh..... instead of cry
𝗜’𝗺 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 ...in the Constitution & the ideals that this country was built on ...that everyone has the right to the same starting point & that only I control my outcome ...in the right to bear arms ...in your right to free speech ...it’s a State’s right to regulate abortion & not the federal government ...that your race, religion, sexuality, political opinions should not come with restrictions or any special treatment. What’s 2021 going to look like for you ..? I know there are some things we can control. *cough* a worldwide pandemic *cough*. But there are so many things we can control. Is this the year you stop only squeezing in time for yourself? Because we know every year those cracks get smaller and you have less time. Is this the year you make a concours effort to take care of yourself? To stop trying to our from an empty cup? I’m not a big fan of resolutions because let’s face it, they’re words. It’s the actions I’m a big fan of. Making the choice to take action in small ways to build up over time. It’s lots of small steps can create a beautiful journey. What’s your journey going to look like? Are you going to let someone else draw your 2021 map? Or are you going to draw it yourself? You have the ability to take the control... you have had the power all along.
Did you do your part!? Did you yell Jumanji!? 2020 had some absolutely amazing highs and devastating lows. It’s really a hard year to reflect on because it really had moments on both side of the spectrum. Events I wish we could erase and those that I would love to relive again and again. Here’s to wishing 2021 be only full of the good movements! 💕
The Simple & Unexpected Who knew a pie plate could instantly put me in the feels. Little back ground, I lost my Grandma Jean the summer of 2016. That summer was a hard summer for lots of reason, but loosing that beautiful soul took the cake. I have so many amazing memories with my Grandma and I’m thankful every day for her. She was a spitfire - she would tell telemarketers who called (because they used her real name) that Deloris had died. Which would instantly send us grandkids into fits of laughter. She once gave me nachos for breakfast and when my mom picked me up, she justified it... I had my grain in the chips, veggies in the salsa, and dairy in the sour cream. What more did I need? So many memories of this wonderful woman happened in the kitchen. I’m not sure there’s anything she couldn’t cook or bake. I’m still in awe of her. Which brings me to this pie plate. Etched in the bottom of this pie plate, in my Grandmas handwriting, is her pie crust recipe... because everything was made from scratch. Grandma, I know I’m no where near your caliber if a cook, but I sure do hope I make you proud. I have no words to explain how much you are missed.
This is just a girl, taking ANOTHER picture... What you don’t see is how much is shown in this picture. Let me tell you something about the girl in this picture… 2 years ago ... this girl was happy in so many ways, but hated the person who looked back in the mirror. She would hide from any picture that required a full body picture & would quickly un-tag them when they showed up on social media... ... she decided to finally keep a promise to herself — to finally place a bet on herself... ... she started her first workout program, EVER. Yup, she had never been someone who worked out & was honestly found it super intimidating. She had no idea what to do when it came to working out. Sure, she had gym memberships & put in time on a cardio machine or attended some classes. But eventually, she would just stop going... ... she found something that worked & felt good. She found support & guidance with an amazing group of women. They helped push, support, & celebrate her along the way. This girl is now confident in who she is & has worked hard to get to where she is. She may not be at her goal yet, but she’s closer today than she was two years ago. She’s proud of every goal she’s gone after, even the times she didn’t achieve what she intended. I purposely didn’t say “I” or “me” throughout this post. Wanna know why?... because this post could be about anyone. As you’re reading this, it could be about you. There’s nothing I’ve done in the last two years that I couldn’t share with you. Have I fallen short - yup! But I’ve always gotten back up and kept pushing. You can too!! Let’s push together! It’s either day one — or one day The choice is yours
It’s the simple thing that will bring you the most joy. When we were checking into the hotel for our wedding, Ashley walked past the gift shop and saw this stuffed elephant and felt he has to get it for me. Instantly I started crying when he gave it to me. My niece’s nursery was to be decorated with elephants. I had been feeling her void a little more than normal - this was her saying she was there. I love that Lindsey never questioned me when I asked for this picture. Now looking at this picture and seeing the rain is also documented - the rain my dad said was my grandma, holding Raegan, crying cause she couldn’t be here - this picture means so much. 💕 📸: @lindseyjallenphotography Filter added by myself
Stop ✋ Read that again How many times have you compared your journey to someone else’s?! And if you say never, we all know you’re lying. I know personally, it’s more times than I want to admit. I was always thinking some form of “I am not good enough”!!! We’ve all heard - comparison is the thief of joy - but have you ever sat down & thought about what comparing has actually stolen from you? Or what comparison has stollen from those who you would have benefited if comparing hadn’t stopped you in your tracks..? This is your story to tell and only yours. It’s time to stop looking at the girl next to you writing her story and have that stop you This is your journey. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s time to invest in some mental blinders. (Pssst, I am mentally picturing those blinders horses 🐴 wear being around my brain 🧠 lol) Time to run your race — regardless on what’s going on in the lane next to you.
