I’m a gluten free home cook who specializes in global cuisine inspired by dishes from my childhood and travels. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in November 2019, which made me change my lifestyle and start a gluten free diet. My goal with starting my page Plating with Perel is to help raise awareness for Celiac Disease and show gluten free food can be tasty.
Last night was the finale of Rat in the Kitchen, and I couldn’t be prouder of the whole experience. Two weeks ago I finally got to share that I won my episode of Rat in the Kitchen along with my fellow cheftestants by correctly guessing the rat. I legit had been keeping this secret from family and friends for almost a year, which for me is not easy cause I want to tell everyone the great news. This face was how I felt most of the day throughout filming especially after Ludo passed both of my dishes. To be a home cook, not formally trained and representing the gluten free community it was an honor to have a Michelin starred chef like my food. I learned to cook through experimenting in the kitchen and watching all the cooking shows over the years. When I got Celiac, I had to learn how to cook gluten free and at the time of filming I was 1.5 years in and still learning about life with Celiac everyday. Competing on Rat in the Kitchen validates that I’m doing what I should be doing and to believe in myself. When I first got into cooking 15 years ago, I never thought I would be on TV and applying for Rat in the Kitchen I went on a whim. The introvert Ryan from grade school never would have done this, but the Ryan post Celiac diagnosis was like go for it. From my casting auditions with Jenna to monthly updates to finally getting the call from Jodi/Nina saying you’re on; it felt surreal. I legit could not contain my excitement when I got this call, and once I landed in Atlanta I knew this adventure was happening. Three weeks in quarantine at a hotel had it’s ups and downs, but in the end it paid off…$7K. Thank you so much to all the crew from TBS, ITV, Ludo, Natasha, my fellow cheftestants and everyone else I crossed paths with during this journey. It wouldn’t have been possible without you. I am so proud that I was able to show myself through my food, and this is only the beginning. I can’t wait to see what is in store for myself and Plating with Perel next. My motto is follow your dreams and keep doing what you love. For me, that’s cooking! Stay tuned to see what I have in store next! 🐀 #ratinthekitchen #tbsnetwork #iwon #chefludo #natashaleggero

Find something you’re passionate about and go for it! For me, that’s travel and food: I challenged myself to do this in 2020 even in a pandemic. I want to live my life to the fullest following my Celiac Disease diagnosis last year, and these activities help me do that. This quick trip to Vegas definitely fulfilled me with gambling, good food at Hell’s Kitchen/Bugsy and Meyer’s Steakhouse, and hiking in the great outdoors at Red Rock Canyon. All precautions taken ✅ #vegas #redrockcanyon #travel #food #hellskitchen #bugsyandmeyers #celiacawareness #gambling
