I started Mom of WAR, because I was looking for a hobby... an outlet... a space just for me. Over the past three years it has become so much more. I’ve learned an incredible amount about who I am as a person, wife, and mother through my writing. I am excited and hopeful to continue growing and building a community of moms that are able to learn, laugh, and share with one another! Thank you for letting me share my journey with you! #blogaversary #3years #momofwar ##momblogger #mommyblogger #supportmoms #momcommunity

In honor of a month filled with flowers, chocolates, lovey-dovey words, and kisses, I want to share some sweet pieces of our story– that is, some loving memories of how my husband and I, and our handsome little family, came to be. When I was in 7th grade, Jeremiah was new to the school and starting 6th grade. Exploring and trying new things is something we love to do together, and we have been thrilled to include our boys in our fun. I absolutely knew the moment I saw Jeremiah in that gas station 11 years ago that there was something special about him– about us.
I’m sure most of you have wondered, at least once (but probably more), if you are doing this mom thing right. I know I have. Moms are so good at giving their kids advice, telling them what to do, encouraging them a certain way, etc. While that’s never a bad thing, and let’s face it... we aren’t going to stop... the actions we take in our own lives are going to have lasting impressions on their lives and influence the actions they take in the future. This very concept is what I am using to form my dissertation. Not only is it vital, but it’s personal for me. It’s vital to understand that our consistent actions are molding consistent habits and behaviors within our children. As a young adult, I spent years not understanding my own actions, emotions, or even my interaction with my personal world around me... and at times it was terrifying! I was reacting to life in a way that was instilled within me. I was handling my life in the same way my mother had handled hers... and it was so freaking toxic. It took time and patience, especially from my husband, to break these habits. And I’m not going to lie, I certainly haven’t perfected myself... but who really has, right? Being an example for our kids is arguably the most important part of parenthood. We avoid “looking in the mirror” because change is hard, but it’s never too late to change habits, behaviors, thought processes, etc. that need work. Do your mom thing. Give them your best guidance and advice, but don’t forget to let them see the best version of you too. #psychology #mompsychology #bestversionofyou #leadbyexample #bestadvice #makethechange #mamalove #motherhoodishard #momlife #yougotthismama #momofwar
it’s time to choose a word of the year for 2021… and I’ve found my word. You see, it’s not that I don’t know who I am, but I sometimes have a hard time letting that shine through. I’ve found it’s much easier to stay consistent to me, when I settle my thoughts and breathe. Let me know in the comments and let’s talk about it!
Blenders Eyewear was started in Cali when a regular dude realized he had found his passion project. I can only imagine it wasn’t easy… but look how far his brand has come! Okay, so my job has zero cool vibes like being a surf instructor, but I can relate to being busy with life– in my case family, work, studying for a PhD– and still wishing to pursue more. Even the A Series frames I have, that are more of an aviator style, are super sturdy– the arms are not flimsy, and I don’t feel as though I have to be especially careful with them!
Happy 8th birthday to one special little boy, who isn’t so little anymore 😢. It seems like just yesterday he was toddling around in a diaper and sitting on random objects 🤣. We called him “the man of many seats.” He called me “mom mom” 💙 and loved Paw Patrol. He’s grown into an incredibly handsome, sweet, goofy little man, and we can’t wait to celebrate today with! Happy birthday Bug! We love you! @wesnwheels #happybirthday #8yearsold #8thbirthday #specialday #thefuture #boymom #boymomlife #boymama #motherhood #growingup #growinguptoofast #momofwar #wesnwheels
