This about sums up this past weekend and the cheer competition. High stress, high emotion, and just needed a hug and to cry it out. It did NOT go as planned, mistakes happened, poor choices happened, and while they got 2nd, it wasn’t the best they could have done. It happens. For the most part they all push themselves and work hard, and it shows in moments like this when the frustration needs to come out. We’re thankful for our auntie to be there but wished the performance had been better. What a family vacation. We flew to Vegas. It was great. But then right before we were supposed to fly home, a kid got sick. Throwing up kind of sick with a fever. We freaked out. We couldn’t fly. Not with Covid still going on and people freaking out if you coughed on a plane. So, we rented a car and drive 25 hours home making stops along the way. However, along the way, the other two kids got sick. We stayed in a different hotel every night. We saw the Twister museum in Oklahoma, we drove on a real red dirt road, we went to Kansas City Chiefs stadium and ate KC BBQ. Sure it wasn’t SUPPOSED to happen like that, but everyone still remembers this trip and has even asked to do it again. Proud of this girl. The start of her 5th cheer season is here and the first competition weekend is winding down. She’s worked hard, continues to work hard even when things aren’t going perfectly, and has the best facials I’ve ever seen (and maybe I’m biased but ask anyone, she’s serving the entire routine not just here and there). If you have a huge crowd, you can order even more but for a family of 5, 25 chicken fingers left us with leftovers for the next day. Raising Cane’s makes it easy for families to enjoy a meal together, and I think the next time we are looking to get outside and go to the park or for a nature walk, we’ll time it just right to coincide with lunch or dinner.
