Forty-four years ago, Jack fled civil war on a small, crowded boat, uncertain of his future. He arrived in #NewYorkCity in September of 1976 eager to find his place in #America like so many immigrants before him. In his homeland, Jack had learned the basics of #leatherwork at his father's and grandfather's small shoe factory. In New York city, he started on the bench at his uncle's leather company then worked as a sewing machine operator, eventually becoming the production manager and then moving into sales and an executive position. He honed the various skills that he would carry with him for life. After the devastating economic effects of black Monday in 1987, Jack found himself with his back against the wall. Having few choices, he gathered a small team of #talented leather workers and founded the company #jackgeorges . Immediately, Jack created the signature styles that are still #handmade in his New Jersey factory by many of the same #artisans that were there at the beginning of his journey.
