I’m Hannah Bunker and I’m a creative soul, married to a hunk named Aaron and mom to twins. We live in Houston where I'm a writer and podcaster.
On my blog I share my passion for creating. My desire is to live a bold and creative life in the time and space where I live.
I’m a passionate story-teller. I’ve always dreamed of changing the world through my story-telling. I love telling stories through my words, through photos, and through video, through art, and through how I design a home. I believe that all stories, the good ones and the hard ones, have a purpose. And I’m passionate about telling them all so that someone out there will be encouraged to know they are not alone and that their story matters too.

Within one month of our move of obedience to northwest Houston, two women who I met through a monthly prayer and worship night called Invited, invited me to travel to California with them for a ministry conference in Long Beach led by our precious Bible teacher, Ms. Beth. Years ago a friend of mine began handing out temporary tattoos that said “loved” as a way to love on people and let them know how loved they are by Jesus. When I walk in the full revelation of my identity as a loved Child of God, I’m compelled to share that revelation with others so they can come to know how loved they are too. “Loved” with tattoo ink while on my trip to Long Beach, but the Lord permanently marked a calling on my life while under Ms. Beth’s teaching.
Beyond posting our sadness on social media with a hashtag, what are we doing in our real, everyday lives to fight injustice, to advocate for our brothers and sisters of color, and to dismantle *white supremacy? The boldness of your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life only went as far as your ability to follow these rules and to fit into the western world’s evangelical Christian mold of Sunday morning’s best dressed, loudest amens, and most slain in the Spirit. Instead of having a relationship with Christ, I realized the relationship I thought I had was nothing more than a list of rules, a checklist, and a faith built on the lie that others’ salvation was up to me. My view of God and my relationship with Christ – which had been defined by rules, regulations, and religion – fell apart because it was built upon the false idea of following rules and telling the world what they were doing wrong. I didn’t know how to reconcile loving people where they were at, while holding fast to the truth that my two goals were to love God and love people.
One of the first projects I undertook when we moved into our house a year and a half ago was turning what was the dining room into our office. You can see that post here, but to refresh your memory, here’s what the room looked like when we bought the house… A while ago, a friend of mine messaged me to let me know that her church was moving buildings and getting rid of a ton of commentaries and resources FOR FREE. Our neighbors moved in across the street in December and they didn’t have a place for this pink chair and asked if I could use it.

Food has become a love language. It’s the last week of summer and I’m trying to make it special with the kids. Today we went shopping for school supplies to donate. Now I’m working on perfecting my chocolate chip cookie recipe (I think this may be the batch! 🤞🏼)and we’re going to take them tomorrow to bless some sweet people when we drop off the supplies.
Whenever someone tells me that my kids are cute, I always wonder “When will cute turn to dangerous?” How long do we have? How long before these sweet, adventurous kids will be seen as a threat simply walking around the bayou like they are here? If you don’t have to think about your child being profiled because of the color of their skin - that’s privilege.

The Quest in the Cloffice. My space for work and for Bible study in this season of life - our desk in our closet surrounded by clothes and shoes and a bathroom 3 feet away. 😂 It’s not roomy but it sure is cozy in all the best ways. I’ll look back on this time that our house was so full of people that we had to put our desk in our closet and be reminded of all the prayers and study that came out of this tiny area. @lifewaywomen

Out adventuring with the kids. Grabbed a pizza from Star, had a picnic at Buffalo Bayou Park, went trail walking a few miles, then stopped in for an afternoon coffee at @southsideespresso and left with some @fusionbeans to take home. I love our city! #houston #htx #buffalobayoupark
I have had some honest thoughts about attending seminary. I so deeply want to get into the depths of God’s word! Everything else in life is fleeting but God’s word is eternal & I want to focus my life on the eternal. But I haven’t felt, at least now, that seminary is for me. Thank God learning his word isn’t reserved for seminarians! I’m doing 2 Bible studies right now which is nuts but I’m in this to learn & focus on the eternal. Another one! I feel like I found my calling! 😂😂😂Someone told me today they know how to make the recipes, but they still watch my cooking videos because it makes them laugh. I HAVE DONE MY JOB!
