Highlights
La Imperiosa by Crowned Heads

La Imperiosa, which translates to “The Imperative,” was a Cuban cigar brand popular in the early 1900’s but discontinued likely in 1962 when Cubatabaco took control of the Cuban Cigar Industry and got rid of thousands of Cuban Cigar brands which were registered between 1810 when the registration of Cuban Cigar brands began and 1962. The blend for the La Imperiosa is the same blend as Crowned Heads’ 2014 release of the Las Calaveras, which is as follows: Appearance: From the dark chocolate brown, oily wrapper to the beautiful band, this is a great looking cigar; quite regal in its appearance and appropriately so. Now I usually find those sweeter fruit notes in cigars where the profile is very earthy or spicy to balance the profile out; however, in this particular blend these flavors Black pepper, walnut, and mineral notes take over the profile with a bittersweet chocolate on the finish as the cigar transitions very well into a fuller bodied, full flavored smoke at this point with a well defined profile of cohesive flavors.

Cigar Review: Quesada Q D’etat Molotov

When the Soviet foreign minister Vyacheslav Molotov falsely claimed Soviet planes were dropping bread baskets and not bombs over Finland, the Finns began to refer to the bombs as Molotov Bread Baskets and responded by naming their own improvised incendiary devices Molotov cocktails, joking that they needed a drink to enjoy with the food. Shaped like a Molotov cocktail measuring 5 x 38/58/44, this cigar is a great size for the thousands of us who will have to smoke outside in the freezing cold this winter because of draconian smoking bans that prevent us from enjoying a cigar indoors at our favorite bars, restaurants, and, often times, even cigar shops. When a cigar of this caliber gets into your possession, of course one of the highlights on your mind is wondering just how the hell this cigar is going to taste. The cigar was produced by a manufacturer I highly respect and enjoy many of their products, it was priced right at just under 8 dollars, carries a fun little back story all while having a unique and fun shape –

Cigar Review: Protocol Probable Cause Lancero

The Protocol Probable Cause Lancero provides a ton of smoke during the first third and maintains excellent draw and construction which is impressive, especially for a lancero! The Protocol Probable Cause Lancero begins to develop a more complex flavor profile during the second third with notes of espresso entering the profile and the leather note becoming more prominent. The retrohale during the second third of the Protocol Probable Cause Lancero remains spicy but also provides some notes of toffee, which adds a delightful dimension to the profile. I would have been plenty happy to find such a full bodied cigar with great balance in flavor and I would have been equally as happy to find such a tasty lancero with great draw and construction, so to find both of these qualities in this cigar makes it a truly outstanding cigar in my book.

Cigar Review: Todos Las Dias

” said Steve Saka, Dunbarton’s owner, in a press release. “To summarize, back in 2001, Estello Padron, late brother of Jose Padron of Padron Cigars fame, gave him a very strong cigar. The end of our Todos Las Dias is coming to a close, and as it does the black pepper fads into the background as notes of leather and espresso come to the forefront with a sort of dirty, chocolate finish to round the profile out. With the Todos Las Dias, this was not the case; it was very flavorful, very well balanced, maintained excellent construction, and yet was very strong.
