Highlights
Inspired By Sing Street

It wasn’t the first time I was inspired by Sing Street, but it was the first time I recreated an actual outfit from the movie. Now, most of the clothes in the movie are in gloriously over-the-top 80s style, but the main character’s sister, Anne, has a utilitarian style that I really like – When I first watched the movie, I thought Anne was a pointless character, but after watching it again and looking at her style, I realized that she serves as a kind of foil for Raphina, the love interest – Anne is all serious and straitlaced while Raphina is colorful and quirky (though Raphina is not quirky in an obvious “manic pixie dream girl” kind of way; she is more nuanced than that.)

For The ‘Gram

I’m still posting backlogged cold-weather outfits, and this particular one is nothing to write home about, so I’m going to use this post for a bit of shameless self-promotion… although, is it shameless self-promotion when you do it on your own blog? Actually, I’ve had it for a while, but I only use it to stalk other people (my Instagram feed is mostly travel photos, art, food, and personal style, in that order), and I’ve only been posting regularly for about a month or so. Right now it’s only an extension of the blog; I will try to post more stuff if possible. It’s just that I can barely remember to use Instagram in the first place, plus my life is not very interesting, so my Instagram would probably be mostly pet, book & garden photos (if I remember to post at all! )

SIA Inspiration: The Farmer’s Daughter

This is the cover of a seed catalogue, and Daenel picked it because she’s “hoping all the rain we’ve had this weekend will bring some pretty blooms in the coming weeks. Well, you know what they say – April showers bring May flowers, right? I love that this image is season-appropriate while being so unexpected too (who would’ve thought of using a seed catalogue cover? ! ) In terms of sartorial inspiration, I see a lot of colors here (green, red/pink, gray/taupe, white, and also a dash of yellow), as well as floral print if you want to go really spring-like.

Dreams Of Winter

The weather has warmed up for real now, but I still have a bunch of outfits backlogged, so here is one of them. Even though I’m liking my experiments with new silhouettes, they’re mostly for warm weather (loose-fitting tops + wide-leg pants), so I still turn to this classic look of sweater/blazer (or both) + jeans + boots when the weather is cooler. It would be interesting to see how the new approach to my personal style would turn out next winter (or if I’m still interested in it), but for now, I still have 6+ months of warm weather to get through… I'm Duc aka Salazar, a stagnating packet of crisps (context) trying to change by adding more colors to my wardrobe and my life.
