I am so lazy with my cocktails lately...and with the photos I just plunked it down and half of it is out of focus but hey who cares? I had half a shower beer left but wanted a cocktail, so why not both? This is basically a sbagliato but we're using a spicier amaro and a tasty lager instead of prosecco. It's a little less sweet and a little more business. 1.5 oz Red Vermouth 1.5 oz Fourthave Amaro 1 Bsp Letherbee Fernet Ebbs Lager Like wheel garnish Mix ingredients in glass and give a quick stir with ice. Top with Lager and enjoy. #designingdrunk #sbagliato #amaro #amari #cocktail #cocktails #beer #lager

I'm not even kidding this cocktail was inspired by little Nicky...you remember when he turns coke to Pepsi? Well if you notice this cocktail has about a half inch off the top of the glass that hasn't frosted like the rest. That's because the top of this cocktail is a Manhattan and the bottom is a cherry whiskey sour. As you drink it the top is boozy, crisp, after a few sips it starts to get a little different and you might think "this coke tastes like Pepsi" and that's because it does and it is and I'm an idiot... The Deep South Fake Manhattan 1/2 oz cognac 1/2 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon 1/2 oz Red Vermouth 2 dashes creole bitters Stirred Cherry Whiskey Sour 1 and 1/2 oz Rittenhouse rye 1/2 oz strawberry basil simple syrup 1/2 oz Cherry syrup from the jar 3/4 oz Lemon Juice Shaken Assemble by pouring the sour in and pouring the Manhattan over the back of a bar spoon. It's so stupid.... #designingdrunk #manhattan #whiskeysour #cocktail #alcohol #mixeddrink #whisky #designingdrunkwhiskey

Straight out of the camera. I don't want to pay for Lightroom anymore. This is inspired by the Mexican Razorblade but with what I had on hand I had to deviate. 1 oz Mezcal 1 oz Yuzu Curacao 1 oz Dry Vermouth 1/2 oz Lime 1 Hefty bsp honey Shaken, garnished with cucumbers and tajin #designingdrunk #designingdrunktequila #margarita #lime #cocktail #cocktails #tajin #yuzu #drink #alcohol #nyc

One big topic that comes up with cocktails a lot is the idea of infusions or fat washing and I've seen some wild stuff going out to bars lately. I think a lot of people are afraid of it because it sounds really technical or difficult but in reality it's the easiest thing in the world. The biggest thing though is it gives you a chance to recycle or repurpose things that otherwise might go to waste. All an infusion or a fat wash is soaking some shit with some other shit and then filtering. If you've ever made coffee you can do this too. I never seek out ingredients for this anymore it's just whatever is on hand. I even made a Parmesan vodka with a leftover rind, if you get creative it can really pan out. Here's a great example, I made a coconut milk hot cocoa with spices for friends because it was 20 degrees out, but I had leftovers. So I could reheat it or I could make a milk punch with it. It's already got tons of flavor so at that point it's just pairing it with some booze and acidity. (Approximate) Hot Cocoa Milk Punch 1 part spiced hot chocolate made with coconut milk* ½ part lemon juice ½ part maple syrup ½ part caffe amaro ½ part orange nonino liqeuer (like triple sec) 2 parts Irish whiskey *1 can coconut milk+ an approximate amount of coconut milk from the carton. Cocoa powder, brown sugar to taste. A cinnamon stick and a clove and some powdered nutmeg. Punch of salt and a kiss of fuckit Shake up and taste, then set in the fridge and forget about it for like a week. Freeze the bitch and come back to it later, filter through coffee filters and let's see what happens. I was eyeballing this for the most part and it turned out delicious. #designingdrunk #designingdrunkwhiskey #milkpunch #hotcocoa #coconut #punch #coffee #amaro #cocoa #spicedcocktail #cocktail #drink #alcohol #cocktails #mixeddrinks #nyc

Feeling cute, might delete later. I'm drinking a lot more old fashioneds lately, I'm not sure what it is about winter but I need them more and more often. Maybe it's because my brother and I used to go around the corner from our place in greenpoint and drink old fashioneds pretty much every day when I first moved to NYC. So I guess it's become a bit of a winter comfort cocktail, even now when we can't go into bars on a crappy winter night to get warm and get out of the house. This is the recipe for an old fashioned I learned from that same bar, it's perfect for novice drinkers and experts alike. - 2.5 oz Bourbon 1/2-3/4 oz Simple Syrup 3 Dashes Angostura Bitters 1 Dash Fee Brothers Barrel Aged Bitters - Stirred, served over ice with an orange wedge. - Glassware: @greenlinegoods Get 15% off with the code DESIGNINGDRUNK15 - #oldfashioned #bourbon #bourboncocktail #whiskeycocktail #designingdrunkwhiskey

Tequila Tuesday doesn't stop because it's 20 degrees. A couple slight tweaks makes this baby's fresh as a daisy. A little cuke and a bit of lemon brightens it up a bit, otherwise it's you're typical Marg. - 2 oz Tequila 1 oz Simple Syrup 3/4 oz Lime 1/4 oz Lemon 1/4 oz Orange Shrubb or Cointreau Cucumber wheels - Add a cucumber wheel to the tin with the rest of your ingredients and shake well until chilled. Add a fan of cuke wheels to your glass and top with ice, fine strain in your Marg and enjoy. - #tequilatuesday #tequila #margarita #cucumber #designingdrunktequila #winter

Just because we're shooting in winter light with the moody vibes doesn't mean we can't enjoy some island flavor. This is a Rob Roy made with a Carribean Reserve Glenlivit, it's a smooth scotch finished in rum barrels. To stay on theme I made a quick swap of the typical orange bitters for a bit of @infusebitters tiki bitters. It's a classic, but with some warm summer energy. Pro tip for a great manhattan or Rob Roy, pull your cherries for your garnish first and use your stirring spoon to assist, then once you drip that excess juice you'll have just enough left on there to add a touch if sweetness and cherry flavor while stirring. Cheers y'all. - Island Rob 2 oz Glenleivit Carribean Reserve 3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth 2 Dashes Peychauds Bitters 1 Dash Infuse Bitters Tiki Bitters - Stirred, served on the rocks with luxardo maraschino and a twist of orange. - #manhattan #scotch #robroy #whisky #whiskeycocktail

Hey y'all, first post of the new year. Happy new year, happy Monday. I've gotten a little bit of a slow start to the year because last year was a wild one and I took a bit of extra holiday. I'm trying to sort out what is coming next for me and the gram, I've had a lot of plans for where to take this thing but I don't really know right now what exactly comes next. If y'all have things you want to see or learn then now is the time to let me know, until then let's lighten the mood with a new recipe. This is a tequila cocktail that comes in heavy with the orange liqueur, a bit of spicy earthiness from cucumber and Ancho Reyes, and then it's topped of with some @avecdrinks jalapeno orange soda water. It's smooth and the orange works well with the lime and subtle heat from Ancho Reyes. For a little extra flavor were going to hit it with a taijin rim. - 2 oz Tequila 1 oz Clements Creole Shrubb / Triple Sec 3/4 oz Demerara Simple Syrup 1 oz Lime Juice 1/4 oz Ancho Reyes Liqueur Avec Drinks Blood Orange Jalapeno Soda Taijin - Shake the ingredients except taijin and soda over ice until chilled. Strain into a glass filled with cucumber and ice, rimmed with taijin, and top with soda water. - #tequila #tequilacocktail #lime #designingdrunktequila

More bubbly cocktails to bring in the new year. This one is #sponsored by @empress1908gin and is a great cocktail to drink our way into 2021. It's been an incredibly rough year which is why I've been cruising to the finish with light and bubbly cocktails. This is an easy recipe to make in bulk and the subtle earthy flavors of the gin make this cocktail a bit more complex, I use two kinds of syrups here to add berry and Passionfruit to the mix, a bit if lime for acidity, topped with a bit of bubbles. I hope that everyone has a wonderful New Years Eve, and let's all raise a glass to the end of one of the worst years ever. - 1.5 oz Empress 1908Gin ¾ oz Lime Juice ½ oz Liber & Co Raspberry syrup ¼ oz Passionfruit syrup Prosecco - Shake all ingredients but prosecco over ice and strain into a coupe glass, top with prosecco and garnish with fresh lime. - #empress1908gin @liberandco #gincocktails #gin #prosecco #designingdrunkgin

This cocktail is for Vivian @thetipsymuse because I am your #secretsanté for this year. - For anyone that doesn't already follow Vivian she's a wonderful photographer and has exceptional taste in cocktails, always posting the most gourmet recipes on the gram. I know that travel, and food and drink pairings are such a huge part of what she does... so I gathered some of my most interesting ingredients from different regions of the world and my most elegant glassware to create a toastworthy cocktail with the new years setting in mind. This cocktail is a dessert toast that takes a bit of cognac, yuzu, lychee, and raspberry syrup topped with a nice dry champagne. It's a fruity mix that's not overly sweet and goes wonderfully with some french macarons. Please enjoy this recipe and I hope you have a wonderful new year! - Cheers to the New Year - 1 oz Pierre Ferrand 1840 Cognac 2/3 oz Raspberry Simple Syrup 1/3 oz Giffards Lychee Liqueur 1/2 oz Yuzu Juice /Yuzu Concentrate Shaken, topped with Champagne Dried Rose Petal for Garnish - #cognac #newyearseve #champagne #raspberry @servedbysoberon

I feel like rum doesn't get enough appreciation, especially in winter. So this is an easy one for rum lovers and novices alike. It's a simple rum old fashioned that leans into the richer rum notes with some simple and bitters tacked on. It's rich but not too sweet, it's smooth and delicious. An easy one to throw back and make all the same. - Rum Old Fashioned 2.5 oz El Dorado 15 Rum 1/2 oz Demerara syrup 2 dashes Angostura Bitters 1 Dash Orange Bitters - Stirred, served over ice with an orange wedge - #rum #rumcocktail #designingdrunkrum #demerara #orange

This is a cocktail for the vodka drinkers called the Spa Day, it's a cocktail I found in @moodymixologist three ingredient cocktail book. It's just vodka, mint simple, and lemon. Real easy, super refreshing, supposed to be garnished with fresh mint but hey it's winter and I had to work with what I had. A little bit or fresh sliced cuke is on brand. This is a great cocktail to relax with, whether it's 100 degrees or idk if there's a huge snowstorm headed your way. Cheers y'all. - Spa Day 2 oz St George Vodka 3/4 oz Lemon Juice 3/4 oz Mint Simple Syrup - Shaken, served up with fresh mint or cucumber slices. - #vodka #vodkacocktail #lemon #sourcocktail #mint #designingdrunkvodka

I don't know about y'all but I'm vibing on the espresso cocktails lately. I typically don't do hot coffee but it's been so cold and windy I've been doing it hot for the past few days. I had some extra espresso and decided to make a little espresso martini to sip on. This variation comes in a little less sweet and a little more on the dry side, I cut a pot of what would normally add that sweetness which also cut the foam a little bit. But the result is a nice refreshing coffee cocktail that won't give you a gut. A touch of natural sweetness is needed, so a little rum and maple syrup gives us what we need to balance everything out. - Espresso Martini #2 - 3/4 oz St George Vodka 3/4 oz El Dorado 3 3/4 oz Equator Espresso from @tradecoffeeco 1/4 oz Khalua 1 Hefty bsp Maple Syrup - Shaken, Served up with 3 espresso beans for garnish. - #coffee #coffeecocktail #espresso #drinktrade #coffeelover #tradecoffee

What do you do when you've got time on your hands? Soak bourbon with peanut butter. It's too funky to drink on its own but makes a wild cocktail. Cheers folks. - Peanut Butter Old Fashioned 1.5 oz Peanut Butter Washed Bourbon 1 oz Bourbon 1/2–3/4 oz Maple Syrup 2 dashes Angostura Bitters 1 Dash Cherry Bitters - Stirred, served over a large cube with a twist of orange and maraschino cherries. - #bourbon #whiskeycocktails #whiskeycocktail #whiskey #designingdrunkwhiskey
