Looks like somebody has a case of The Mondays! *Seriously, this statue of the Adamastor (sculptor: Júlio Vaz Júnior) was installed in 1927 at Lisbon's Santa Catarina viewpoint. *The Adamastor is a mythical creature creating itself out of a storm at the Cape of Good Hope. The character represents the forces of nature and the dangers of ocean exploration, which the Portuguese excelled at during the Age of Discovery. *The Adamastor was the creation of Portuguese poet Luís de Camões. His epic poem Os Lusíadas was first printed in 1572. *Have Mondays gotten any easier since then?

St. Vincent, the patron saint of Lisbon holds a ship with two crows (the coat of arms of Lisbon) at the Miradouro das Portas do Sol. When you travel during rainy season, you can't avoid rainy and cloudy pictures. Praça do Comércio (Commerical Park) in Lisbon was one of the places that just wasn't sunny when I was around. It's an enormous square, 574 by 574 ft (175 by 175 m) facing the Tagus (Tejo) River, and a tourist favorite, even in the rain.
