Officially 10 days away from my wedding and Iâve been looking back at some of my favorite memories from being engaged and this special moment is something Iâll never forget. For some context, my Poppop got unexpectedly sick and we knew he wasnât going to make it. My family and I went to Maryland a few weeks before the engagement to say goodbye. We thought he would pass a couple days after, but it turns out he knew about the engagement and was strongly holding on to be able to witness his first granddaughter get engaged. He passed away that night. As sad as I am to have lost him, I feel so lucky that my last memory I have of him was him chanting mazel tov with the biggest smile on his face I have ever seen. It hearts my hurt that he wonât physically be there on my wedding day, but I do know heâll be there in spirit watching down, making sure everything goes as planned (he was very type A, just like Jason).
