I am also thrilled that scientific progress is allowing hospital-grade PPE to be disinfected and reused, and I hope that this will be a turning point in the battle to protect our front-line workers! so, later this week, I will begin mailing/delivering masks to families with medically-fragile children. The second group I hope to protect are mothers facing high-risk pregnancies due to prenatal diagnoses or maternal health concerns. While the risks of COVID-19 infection to pregnant women are not clear, I want to provide these mothers with every opportunity for good health and stress reduction while they tackle the anxiety of high-risk pregnancy during a pandemic.

In some ways it feels like forever, yet I remember it like it happened yesterday. 6 months seems like such an important interval of time. You, on the other hand, would either be recovering from open heart surgery (or rapidly approaching your surgery date), so I realize that your timeline would have been different – I was scared of having a breech delivery, but I never even considered having surgery unless my life was in danger.

You don’t get to bypass the bleeding, the pain or waking up in a puddle of your own milk. You can barely think, and you don’t even have time to take care of YOURSELF. “remains” and forced social interactions leave little time for recovery. Not to mention that you probably feel broken and angry, and are therefore less inclined to make self-care a priority.)
