Review: Gear Aid Tenacious Tape – Clear Repair Tape

One of the simple facts of using your gear for outdoor activities is that inevitably you’re going to tear something. While I try to take care of my gear and use it properly, you can’t prevent every bit of damage

Review: Maven RS.2 Rifle Scope

When selecting a scope for my new Savage Arms 110 Lightweight Storm rifle I wanted a solid, highly dependable and accurate scope that was a good value and helped keep the weight down. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting they guys behind Maven at a few different trade shows and as with many things, the quality of the product is often reflected in the quality of the people behind them and the Maven guys are some of the best. The Maven RS.2 goes for $550 which is not cheap but when compared to other scopes of this quality, it’s as close to a bargain as you’re going to find. As I’ve found to be true with Maven binoculars, I’m certain this scope will not only hold up but perform extremely well and will likely outlast me.

Review: Grangers Down Care Kit

so you understand the details of the garment I’m testing out the Grangers Down Care Kit Wash and Repel 2 in 1 on. The kit comes with a 10oz bottle of their down wash and repel which not only cleans whatever down garment or sleeping bag you may be using it on but it adds a level of water repellency that I was hoping to add to my jacket. After the wash cycle I threw it in the dryer on the low/delicate setting with the 3 dryer balls. What makes this worth the few extra dollars over their regular just down cleaning wash is the added level of water repellency.

Review: Filson Dog Chest Protector

The Filson Dog Chest Protector is basically two layers of cloth. While I wouldn’t leave it on the dog for long distances it’s fit closely and comfortable so when hitting multiple spots I’d leave it on the dog in the kennel between spots without worrying about rubbing or irritation. After a full season of hunting birds several days a week the chest protector barely shows use and has done a great job of keeping the dog safe. The Filson Dog Chest Protector isn’t the cheapest in the bunch but at $75
