Spring Edibles on the Way

Small, but meaningful shifts are taking place in the garden. Over the weekend (April 13), I made my first, small leafy greens harvest of the season

You Grow Girl

Lately, these words keep popping up in my mind as I slowly walk the garden looking for signs of growth and change. Sometimes I say them out loud, too, greeting each plant as they emerge

Cannabis Diaries: On Growing Our Own

Not one to allow anything to go to waste, I have been able to turn the strains that didn’t work for migraines into topical salves that help with painful menstruation and other pain that sometimes crops up. Once my three months were up, I renewed my prescription, but I had so much already and didn’t want to risk spending more on stuff that didn’t work. Once legalization came in October, I was able to purchase some much higher CBD strains in much smaller, 1-gram quantities, but honestly, selection was and continues to be very limited, and I still haven’t found what I am looking for. Even without experiences like mine, I think we all have something to heal when it comes to this plant, and my hope is that through growing we can be a part of changing the tide of stigmatization and willful ignorance that has plagued our human relationship with cannabis for nearly a century, and perhaps develop a new, healthy relationship of respect and dare I say, even normalcy.
