Aron Bell is 96 years old and he and his late brothers are known as the Bielski Partisans. They lived in the forest in Poland for 4-5 years and saved the lives of 1200 Jews during WWII. Their story was depicted in the film "Defiance" Barry Gordon was a former President of SAG-AFTRA and was once a cantor at @templeofthearts in Beverly Hills. Members of the striking actor's and writer's guilds were invited to attend high holy days for free. The Saban Theatre is the home of the temple. Our next tribute for Laura comes from voice over and on-camera actress Rebecca Forstadt. Rebecca was cast in the role of Karen in the film Mugsy’s Girls (1984), later renamed Delta Pi. Karen was a nerdy sorority girl whose best friend was Monica, played by Laura, and their housemother, Mugsy, was played by the great actress Ruth Gordon. The film was a sort of female "Animal House." Strapped for cash, Monica, Karen, and the rest of the girls, along with Mugsy, agree to travel to Las Vegas with promoters Shawn (James Marcel) and Lane (Eddie Deezen) to participate in a mud-wrestling competition, with many high-jinks along the way. Rebecca has voiced hundreds of Japanese anime films and TV series, with one of her most notable characters being Minmei in "Robotech," and she also has had an extensive career in animation, commercials, video games, ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), and audio books, as well as additional work in on-camera roles. Rebecca also enjoys appearing as a special guest at anime and sci-fi conventions. The following is Rebecca's beautiful tribute for Laura: "I worked with Laura Branigan on the film “Mugsy’s Girls,” which also starred Ruth Gordon. I played Laura’s best friend Karen. We were both members of a sorority in the film and I was the nerd. Laura was always so sweet and kind. She was never a diva even though she was a huge singing star. We spent about 6 weeks on that film and were in many scenes together. When the show wrapped, she invited some of us to her hotel room at the Chateau Marmont off the Sunset Strip and we all rode there in her limo. I got a little tipsy, but we had a fabulous time. I was so sad to hear that she had passed away at such a young age because I knew she would have continued to top the charts.
