Why you should test your thyroid if you suffer from fatigue

Instead, I’d highly recommend checking out the full symptom checklist for hypothyroidism (which is the proper name for an underactive Thyroid) symptoms on Thyroid UK’s website. Anecdotally, there seems to be a fair number of ME patients with Thyroid conditions and I’ve even seen talk of it in the Endometriosis community, although it may be the case that as Thyroid conditions aren’t rare they appear fairly often in any community. Here’s a quick guide to the tests available for your Thyroid * TSH – Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Now, I would suggest if the symptoms list on Thyroid UK’s website sounds familiar, going to your GP in the first instance and making sure the NHS has run their Thyroid tests on you.

ME is more than "just" being tired

It is fatigue but not as you know it:Fatigue is a big aspect of our lives but it doesn’t behave like healthy tiredness, it affects your mind as well as your body and it can be so extreme as to leave people bedbound for decades The key symptom is actually an intolerance or an abnormal response to exertion: Fatigue is part of this, but what is key here is that far from “not feeling like going to work today,” pushing ourselves to do so can have devastating consequences. The mental fog and muscular exhaustion of really bad flu, the post-adrenaline crash after a day of thrills and the emotional fatigue after a particularly bad break up. ME isn’t just fatigue, it’s not the only symptom that gets worse when you overexert.

Life update: Weddings, health and awards

If you haven’t read my previous posts, and don’t follow me on social media, you may have missed the fact that the blog has been quiet because I’ve been busy prepping and then recovering from my wedding. If you have had children it can’t really be diagnosed this way as your uterus will appear lumpy anyway But on the upside, I have had the majority of my Endometriosis (not including whatever may be lurking north of my diaphragm) expertly excised which should increase my chances compared to if I hadn’t had it done. If enough people use it and I use the app enough then I will be rewarded with lifetime free membership but obviously this wouldn’t be a perk if I didn’t like the app itself! )

My life with ME interview for Echo App

Just a quick blog to let you guys know I was interviewed about my ME over on the Echo app blog. You may remember I wrote a review of Echo app some time ago. Joe Lofts from Echo got in touch with me asking me to do an interview with them for ME awareness day. It was a real pleasure and I spoke about my life with ME, why I blog, and my tips to those newly diagnosed.
