New Zealand North Island Road Trip Recommendations

The next morning, we got up early and headed over to Fort Greene, an adorable coffee shop (ironically, that shares a name with a neighborhood near ours in Brooklyn) and got eggs, toast and DELICIOUS cheddar scones to go as we started on our drive south to Tongariro National Park. We got maps of the hikes at the Whakapapa Visitor Center, which We spent the night at Howard’s Lodge, a hostel. We spent about an hour in the cave total, and some parts were much better than others—at one point we laid in the tubes and turned the lights on our helmets off, which allowed us to fully see the glowworms, which was really spectacular. The book continues through her years practicing law in Chicago (where she met Barack Obama), her changing career path, becoming a mom, and of course, her husband’s political career and their time in the White House.
