Why You Should Go Backpacking in Ethiopia

Backpacking in Ethiopia is one of the best things you could do as a backpacker. You have diverse cultures, different landscapes, a rich history, decent food, plenty of adventure, and it’s cheap to travel

The Laugavegur Trail Trek Report

It’s these last few hours that you see more day trippers just coming to hike the first few hours of the trek, similar to the beginning on the other end. I camped overnight en-route simply because of starting late in the day getting out of Reykjavik Plenty of people hitch-hike in Iceland and from what I gathered you don’t need to wait too long for a ride. When To Do The Laugavegur Trail Trek June to September is the time to do the Laugavegur Trail as this is when the snow has mostly melted and the wether is at its best. When saying the weather is at its best bear in mind that Iceland has some fast changing weather, and a hot sunny summers day can quickly become a rainstorm and things get chilly fast.

Hiking The Routeburn Track In New Zealand (Trip Report)

The Routeburn Track hike in New Zealand is an excellent 2-3 days hike into the mountains and deep mossy forests. It’s only a 45 minute drive from Queenstown to the start of the hike which is also a stunning drive passing along a lake. The beginning of the hike starts with a relaxed 1-2 hour walk through forest with streams, waterfalls, and a fast flowing river running through it all, to reach the first campsite for the night at Routeburn Flats. This hike upwards takes about 2-4 hours depending on how slow you want to go, and as you go higher up you pass through the tree line and into alpine scenery.

Hiking The Kepler Track In New Zealand (Trip Report)

Leaving the snow line and clouds behind I reached the dryer parts of the mountain range, with Lake Te Anau appearing below and more mountain peaks far in the distance. Having spent too much time in the mountains and with the light fading fast there was no time to reach the official campsite by the lake for the night that I had booked, leading to the decision to freedom camp up by the mountain at the forest edge. With the sun now warming things up the backpack was packed and I began the walk down into the tree-line to hike the four hours to the other beginning of the Kepler Track, where my hike ended. You can reach the Kepler Track easily from Queenstown in around three hours driving time to the town of Te Anau (by Lake Te Anau).
