A Colourful Terrazzo Shopping Edit

If you’re not familiar, then it’s the speckled surface that you may have spotted in trendy Parisian cafes or on interiors blogs (American Vogue has an in-depth piece). After a Midcentury revival plus the treatment of designers such as Ettore Sottsass and Max Lamb, terrazzo now seems to be a way to bring millenials to the yard. Since I’m nowhere near having a bespoke kitchen with multicoloured pops, I’m making do with some of these items instead. I’m also a fan of independent makers such as Olivia Aspinall, Katie Gillies and Emily Marlin, plus The Completist have a jazzy range of notebooks and planners.

Introducing The Style Hashtag Project

The best hashtags seem to be smaller and targeted (like #midsizestyle, #averagegirlsize and #slowstyling) and there’s a real community of like-minded people. Since I’m obsessed with chronicling everything (plus I love seeing personalised tags like #ericadavieshouse), I decided to create my own specific trend hashtags. It’s a way to share how I’m styling the same items again and again plus it’s interesting to see how my style has evolved. It’s great if you want to organise your own looks and showcase older content, plus people can follow along.

Money Diary: Tenerife Tapas & Drag Race Party Planning

I arrive at around 10.30, the train costs £13.90 plus I have to get an annoying £3 transfer bus for a five minute journey, as the hotel isn’t within walking distance. I’m still craving seafood especially since it’s something I don’t buy too often in the UK, so lunch at Los Pinchitos is perfect (£24.07). I end up in Gail’s for a sausage roll (£3.40) and manage a quick Sainsbury’s shop (£6.72). I’m back in Sainsbury’s for the third day in a row (£21.69), but this time I have a plan.

5 Places To See In Mexico’s Riviera Maya

I’d heard so much about colourful yet ‘commercial’ Isla Mujeres and certainly didn’t feel hip enough for Tulum after spotting a dozen Instagram-ers in floaty dresses. We only had a couple of hours on the island as it was part of a private boat trip, but managed to cover most of the grid-like streets near the Ferry Terminal. The Tulum ruins are easier to reach if you’re staying nearby, as they’re slap bang in between downtown and the trendy beach area. I’m keen to experience another side next and see Mexico City, but first I need to drastically improve my Spanish situation….
