Vancouver doubled up Toronto 4-2 and Anaheim beat Colorado in Colorado 5-4 in OT. 5.5 gave us a chance, a 2-2 tie would result in a 3-2 win one way or the other and a win for us, all these 5’s all of a sudden bear watching. With Fleury and Talbot in goal we had a much lower total predicted, in fact, we were projecting a 2-2 game with a third goal coming for one of the teams in OT which would have still left us under the 5.5 total but instead, the game did go to OT as projected, but the Knights won 5-4 in a high scoring affair against two solid goalies and defenses.. go figure? But Colorado didn’t win, San Jose scored four times in the 3rd period to crush them 6-2.

In the opinion of Bob Sturm of the Athletic, there’s little question that among this year’s class of off-ball linebackers, Parsons is the cream of the crop. “Parsons, who was a prized recruit as a pass rusher coming out of high school, is still ironing out some of finer points of play processing on the second level but his freakish combination of size and explosiveness allow him to explode and drive into gaps when he sees the play develop and as a result, he’s a persistent winner of beating ball carriers and blockers to the spot between the tackles,” he said. Parsons has as much IDP upside as any linebacker in recent memory — with the right coaching in the right spot he has the potential to be a high-end LB1 for years to come. Given that ridiculous ceiling, it’s hard to envision a scenario where Parsons isn’t both the first linebacker drafted in dynasty IDP leagues and the first IDP selected overall in 2021.

So unless some lines change or some starting goalies change, we’ll be sitting out today as we only bet opportunity, we never force a bet just to have action as that’s when things turn sour. It’s a good thing we didn’t place the Bruins at -165 as they lost 6-2 to the Rangers but the Over, which was really the only possible bet of the day did roll right in thanks to the defensive breakdowns of Boston. came out that McElhinney was going to be in net for Tampa (who has looked shaky to start this season) and also figuring that Carolina would be playing with a lot more emotion after being blanked the night before by Tampa. We were also riding high on the late-night under bet heading into the 3rd period with Vancouver up 3-1 with 3 goals to give in the 3rd for our under 6.5 to roll right in.. everything was going great until Edmonton scored THREE times in the 3rd period to win and to push the total over by half a goal.

Winnipeg at 8-4-1 going up against Ottawa at 2-12-1 usually makes for a good bet but sometimes, like last night, the team with only 2 wins this season now have 3. Similarly, Nashville against a 3-12-1 Detroit team tends to make for a good bet but Detroit came out hard and won that game with some good play throughout. They’ve been reliable for us so far but the odds makers have definitely caught up as the opening line is starting to get to where it should be for the Bruins, we were getting better odds on the Bruins earlier in the season. There’s not much to choose from today, it’s a bit of a mess throughout with at least two goalies that have yet to start a game this season expected (Nedeljkovic for Carolina and Smith for Edmonton) but with a potential switch from Rinne to Saros in net for Nashville, we’ll sprinkle a little on Toronto for some extra coffee money in the morning.
