Highlights
Tomatina Throwing Festival

It is so popular that people come from other countries just to take part, tourists who are in the peninsula on holidays go to Buñol, and of course, Spanish people who live nearby and want to have fun, go as well. La Tomatina has become, as you have seen, more than a simple anecdote, as demonstrated by the following facts: The company Namco included La Tomatina as one of the scenarios of its video game Tekken; there is a short Disney movie about this festival; a number of foreign films have included  scenes where their characters visit during the festival; and in 2015 Google dedicated a Google Doodle to this tomatoes war for its 70th anniversary. We add an e at the end of the word because the ending –tl doesn’t exist in Spanish and other countries in the old continent made their own curious adaptations: the Italians call it the “golden apple”, pomodoro, because of its physical similarity with this fruit. I hope you have a good week and if, in the future, you go to La Tomatina, don’t forget to take your googles and your gloves, I’m sure you are going to have a lot of fun.

What everyone must know about Barcelona

The answer is that after a lot of time working and speaking with Spanish learners, I have found that most of them choose Barcelona as their favorite place or the place they would most like to visit. There is a saying in Catalan that is known throughout Spain that says; Barcelona es bona si la bossa sona. Don’t think that tourists only visit the city in the summer; Barcelona draws curious visitors from around the world 365 days of the year. What a treat, to stroll through the market among the people, look at the store windows, listen to the venders talking about their products and sweet talk the customers who are wandering with their baskets full of fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, cakes, olives, cured meat, bread and whatever you feel like!

3 idioms to sound really cool in Spanish
