Now, here I sit in a coffee shop in Knoxville, Tennessee, writing to you about success. My seven-year-old son, Sam, says this thing, a thing that I am embracing in my life from here to eternity. Inside my heart, there is the truth of who I am, how I am loved, and all that this God, whose ways are perfect, has planned in the ways of true success. And, outside, the world might applaud my endeavors, throw money at my feet, and at the end of the day, I would retire to one of my seven homes in seven remote, tropical locations, and sip expensive champagne, that they might call me a success.

My dad jokes that my mom and I don’t even look like the same species. And perhaps, that isn’t some life-altering tidbit. If God’s own people do not prosper and grow in the calling, who will tell the tales of how good He is… and how He saves? And so, perhaps, a little blog post here and there, a podcast with a download or two, or ten thousand, doesn’t break records or earn acclaim, but it is more than enough, entirely satisfying, and altogether delightful when it is what matters to Him… and is exactly the marvelous life He had in mind.
