Changing Your Focus

You can find good and bad in every situation that life presents you but if you choose to always focus on the negative life is going to be really hard. What You Think About Before I started changing my thoughts I started noticing what my thoughts were about and what areas of my life were the most negative. If you complain they will often make a negative comment but if you point out the good things in the situation they will usually do the same. and as I started to train myself to always focus on the good in every situation I felt better and better.

Raising Your Standards

It wasn’t until recently that I started to raise my standards and I began to be treated way better by everyone in my life. The areas in our life that feel heavy or don’t excite us are usually the areas where we need to raise our minimums. Slowly life started to get better and better as I was able to slowly shift my beliefs and actions to line up with my new minimums. By saying no to things that don’t feel good you’re making room for better things to come into your life.

Consuming Media When You're Depressed

After you’ve started adding in positive media to your routine now it’s time to start cutting back on consuming media. If I’m really feeling tied to my phone I will delete all of my social media off my phone at night and on the weekend (I use social media for work during the day). If you’re going to limit social media you’re going to have to find a better way to fill that time. The idea is to add activities that will improve your mental health over time so add activities that are good for you and will help you feel positive emotions when done over time.

What I Wish I Had Known About Anti-Depressants

I know everyone’s experience with medication is different and some people have terrible side-effects or don’t feel like themselves when they are on anti-depressants. To be honest with you it makes me hesitant to speak honestly about my experience with anti-depressants because I don’t want to glamorize anti-depressants or make it seem like I believe you have to go on medication to recover and I felt like I could manage my depression without the help of medication anymore. However, I know there are other people who are tempted to do the exact same thing when they feel like they don’t need medication anymore.
