Highlights
Bone Gap – Laura Ruby

So when young, beautiful Roza went missing, the people of Bone Gap weren’t surprised. As we follow the stories of Finn, Roza, and the people of Bone Gap—their melancholy pasts, their terrifying presents, their uncertain futures—acclaimed author Laura Ruby weaves a heartbreaking tale of love and loss, magic and mystery, regret and forgiveness—a story about how the face the world sees is never the sum of who we are. That is one of the things I really loved about this book; stuff that happens could be magic or, the aspects that we think could be magic, are actually beautifully woven metaphors, or, they could be misconceptions about something much deeper – It is the type of book that I can’t wait to read again and notice all the things I missed the first time (mainly because I wanted to know what happened so badly that I read faster than I ever have before! )

The Keys to the Kingdom Series – Garth Nix

I wanted to read something that I know I love – and the Keys to the Kingdom series is exactly that. I remember reading Mister Monday and just being absolutely blown away by the world that Nix had created. Well – let me tell you, I am rereading the series (for probably about the fifth time) and I am still blown away by the sheer genius of Nix’s writing and world building. I felt that I needed to come and express my love for these books as, for some reason, I have seen quite a few people giving them bad reviews –

Blog Tour: True Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop – Annie Darling

So against her better judgement and because she can’t stand sitting on the sad singles table, Verity and Johnny decide to partner up for a summer season of weddings, big number birthdays and garden parties, culminating in her sister’s Big Fat Wedding. And by the end of the summer, there’s a bad case of heartache that even Verity’s beloved Pride And Prejudice might not be able to cure… Say that Johnny was the son of one of her father’s parishioners (her father’s parishioners had, conveniently, a lot of children between them) and they’d arranged to meet here because he needed some spiritual guidance. Verity felt hands on her shoulders once more, squeezing her gently, then Nina rested her chin on top of Verity’s head.

One of Us Is Lying – Karen McManus

One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. The Breakfast Club with a thriller twist -I was guessing all the time and even when it got to the twist I still hadn’t guessed correctly! This book is a perfect summer read – definitely one of the best YA books this year!
