2019 RBC Heritage Picks, Including the Driver-Off-The-Deck BOLD Play of the Week #isitThursdayyet

In fact, in a few years ago Golf Digest did a poll among PGA Tour players and the host course Harbour Town ranked 2nd among player favorites on Tour, behind only- you guessed it- Augusta National. One of the many things that makes Harbour Town great, is that at just a shade under 7,100 yards (after a few tees were stretched by architect Pete Dye in 2011), it demands that players work the ball both ways, hit it high and low, and literally use very club in their bags during the round. Trees hang crowd the edges of fairways and greens and require players to strategically place tee shots to specific quadrants of the fairway in order to have proper angles into the green. require extreme precision, as a player could literally hit anything from a driver all the way down to a 6-iron off the tee on some holes (seriously, guys will hit 6-irons off some par 4 tees this week).

Introduced to the game by caddying at the White Bear Yacht Club in White Bear Lake, MN, a Donald Ross Top 100 Courses gem, which got me hooked on the game for life. Graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, collegiate golfer. Now a freelancer and lead writer + owner/operator of 4 Deep Golf. Never afraid to share an opinion or prediction, driver-off-the-deck bold style in writing and in life in general is the way I roll.

2019 The Masters Picks, Including the Driver-Off-The-Deck BOLD Play of the Week #isitThursdayyet

I can already see the story lines coming about this week with recollection back to last year’s ankle injury while he’s in contention this week. Obviously it’s been a tough year for the 3-time major champ thus far, with zero stroke play finishes inside the top 30 (in fact last week at the Valero was his best stroke play finish of 2019—t-30th). He’s at the point now where his head is so clouded, so immersed in doubt, so negative that I actually expect for him to miss 3-4 footers when he stands over them, whereas 12+ months ago, anytime he took the putter back it was never a surprise when the ball dropped in the cup, no matter what the distance. I do worry a tad about that, as Sneds is definitely someone who can get overly excited and jumpy, but with his solid track record here coupled with his good form of late, another top 10 could certainly be in the cards.
