Ground Zero 19 Years Later: 9/11 Memorial and Museum

When my husband and I decided to attend the 9/11 Memorial and Musem we did so because we felt we should pay our respects. Benches surround the room so that you can watch short video clips that play interviews with the loved ones of victims. There’s three guys, they’ve hijacked the plane…we’re turned around and I heard that there’s planes that have been flown into the World Trade Center. Not accessible by the Museum and ran by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City, there’s a small room behind these walls that allow immediate family to pay their respects to their loved ones.

Traveling the World One Glass at a Time with In Good Taste Wines

But that doesn’t mean you can’t experience new cultures, food, and wine from the comfort of your home. In Good Taste Wines offers limited batches of single-glass bottles of wine from around the world. But what about receiving a beautiful gift box with a flight of 8 single-glass bottles of wine?! Each box includes 8 different types of single-glass wines along with tasting cards that include fun facts and food pairings.

Be Chosen with World Vision

World Vision has just announced an incredible new program for their children and sponsors. By putting this choice in their hands, World Vision is allowing the child to be their own voice. In this new program, instead of you (a sponsor -to-be) looking through children on the World Vision website to sponsor, your photo will be submitted with your sponsorship. And you have the opportunity to join 7 bloggers and be chosen by a child alongside them in Ecuador on 9/30 during an influencer virtual trip!

Pushing the Boundaries of Traditional Classrooms: An Interview with Randy Bass

The day I arrived on campus, my first meeting was with Randy Bass, Vice Provost of Education and the founding director of Georgetown’s Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS). With that in mind, we also have self-interested reasons to up our game: to find new and innovative ways to deliver high-impact learning, but also look at long term affordability, sustainable financial models, and equitable approaches to learning. I would point to Core Pathways, a novel way for students to take part of their Core Curriculum by taking 7 week modules from different disciplinary lenses on the world’s great challenges, such as Climate Change and Humanity and Technology. Well, I think many of our students come to us believing they can change the world; our job is to give them knowledge, skills, voice, experience, community and a sense of agency so that they can be effective in the world.
