35 Years of Dockers®

To mark the occasion, we sat down with Global Head of Dockers® Santiago Cucci to hear his perspective on the last three-and-a-half decades and learn how he and his team are setting the brand up for the next 35 years. Today, Dockers® is a head-to-toe lifestyle brand, which means that we can offer a distinct aesthetic that feels true to today’s point of view. In recent years, we’ve made the clear-cut decision to be a values-led brand, and we are hyper-focused on delivering great style through sustainable initiatives. In another 35 years, I firmly believe we’ll be a go-to casualwear brand that’s known for sustainable business practices and strong company values.

LS&Co. Women Make Time for the Personal and Professional

In recognition of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, a few of our women employees shared how Levi Strauss & Co. managed to support them through a year rife with struggle and a global pandemic — We need to become more versed in the particular challenges of our employees and build solutions that will help them to navigate those challenges and really provide a better quality of work-life and life. Whether it was giving these women a platform to use their voices or providing useful benefits to balance personal challenges, here’s what they shared about the different ways the company helped them in recent months. I felt supported and empowered to make that big life decision in large part due to our paid family leave program, which allowed me to think flexibly and differently about how I would balance that challenging time of taking care of my kids through an international move, a global pandemic and being able to help take care of my parents,” Kate said.

LS&Co.’s Paid Leave Policy: A Benefit for Us All

In a new op-ed published by CNN Business today, Levi Strauss & Co. President and CEO Chip Bergh urges policy makers to pass the Family And Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act which would provide every worker in the U. S. up to 12 weeks of paid time off to care for their own health, a new child, or a sick parent and spouse. Ensuring that everyone can take paid time off to care for their own health, a new child, or a sick parent and spouse – Since we introduced paid family medical leave in January 2020, our policy cost just 10 percent of what we’d projected annually, he noted. Last spring, we also introduced paid sick leave for part-time retail employees, which has helped ensure that our employees were keeping themselves and our customers safe as the stores slowly re-opened.

Circularity Comes to Life Through Water Recycling

To effectively address these impacts, we must ensure that production, supply chain practices and technologies ensure the effective use of resources, like water. Between 2017 and 2020, the cumulative amount of water our suppliers recycled in our supply chain grew by 40 times, for a total of more than 9 billion liters of water since the launch of our water recycle and reuse standard, a key component of our leading-edge Water<Less® program. 94% of the Epping factory’s products are now made with Water<Less® techniques, which have reduced the factory’s water use for manufacturing by more than 25%. Today, over two billion people live in water-stressed areas around the world — and by 2050, that number will grow to include more than half the world’s population if no action is taken, according to the United Nations.
