Telluride Horror Show: More Frightening Than Shriveled Up Ding Dongs

And because of that, my Chilean b-friend (Nibo) and I decided to attend our first-ever Telluride Horror Show, Colorado’s longest-running horror film festival, currently in its ninth year. The next film we caught was The Boat at the impressive Palm Theater, which is housed within Telluride High School (Oooo, we got to drink beer in a high school! ) Films we did not see but have heard a lot of buzz about were The Dark, Lords of Chaos, The Witch in the Window, and Cam, which is also playing at this year’s film festival in Denver. The festival has already announced dates for next year’s event (October 11- 13, 2019) and you know, it’s never too early to plan ahead.

Beer Me: February 21, 2017 – February 27, 2017 – Chocolate Gose, S’Mores Dark Star, and The Earl

With plenty of time before St. Patrick’s Day, Great Divide is bringing back a favorite brew in the form of St. Bridget’s Porter, a beer that has not been served in the taproom for the past 8 years. Day one will feature the bottle release of La Cienega Farmhouse aged in oak barrels with freshly crushed syrah grapes from Infinite Monkey Theorem, live music with Roman Samuels Music, and food by Baby E’s BBQ. Saturday features the bottle release of Black Whiskey River Imperial Stout aged in Laws Whiskey House bourbon barrels, live music with Chris Dismuke Music, and food by The Pasty Republic. To celebrate what would be the Man in Black’s 85th birthday, Black Shirt is releasing Baritone Black IPA, a dark and brooding black IPA.

Denver Record Club

Kicking off on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Denver Press Club, the Denver Record Club will provide a place where folks can actually listen to an album, uninterrupted, in its entirety. Music is far more diverse than say TV shows or movies…I’m curious to see what the audience / attendance will be like with regards to music preferences. I do want some time in-between sessions for people to reflect and spend some time with albums they’d like to share. To find more like-minded people…more music-related ideas for sessions as well…things like perhaps music videos, artist vs. artist, and a sense of community for the musically inclined.

Beer Me: February 14, 2017 – February 20, 2017 – Valentine’s Day, Colorado Lager, and Barrel-Aged Beers

Anyone through the door will get a 20oz 1916 mug and a free six-pack of the 1916 lager with the purchase of a full pour of 1916. They will release bottles of the Imperial brew as part of their two-year anniversary celebration, which also includes a food truck and live music. River North kicks off their two-day fifth-anniversary celebration at noon on Saturday with the release of their first American Double IPA in draft and bottles. The lineup includes kegs of The Cut: Blackberry (2016 Blend), The Cut: Elephant Heart Plum Leaner (2016 Blend), and Supreme Clientele, along with bottles of The Cut: Blackberry (2016 Blend), The Cut: Elephant Heart Plum, Fruit Stand: Cab Franc Grape, East Bank, and Santa Rosa Plum Casey Family Preserve.
