Highlights

There’s so much pressure on our tiny humans and we just aren’t here for it. We are go with the flow at our house and that doesn’t mean we don’t learn or build skills, we just take our time, instil confidence, encourage trial and error and build on interests. We teach a lot of life skills and incorporate climbing, jumping, running, puzzles, building and reading. We don’t see the point in rushing things at his age especially when the kids can and will regress, disassociate, gain anxiety or lack of confidence in things they actually enjoy doing. We also don’t care for having to live up to made up milestones like writing by 3 or even potty training by 2. Every child is different and experience things in unique ways. There’s even research coming out that says if we don’t rush our kids they will learn what they need to learn quicker and more effectively at the “respectable age” like reading or writing vs rushing kids to learn certain things before 7 and have them struggle for many years. Research is showing that kids should essentially be playing and doing life until at least 7 before being pushed to do things like read, write, etc. Anywho, moral of the story is do what’s best for your kiddo and don’t feel like you need to check off a list and do what “they” say. Who’s “they” anyway?

I told Mike all I wanted for Mother’s Day was a steak 🥩 and a fancy iced coffee from a cafe. And in all seriousness, Mother’s Day is cute BUT everyday is Mother’s Day for me at our house. I have everything I need and I’m so thankful for my blessings. I don’t need clothes or jewelry, I don’t need a “day off” or anything to take me away from my family. I don’t need the spa or a girls trip. I need to be with my family and cherishing every single minute. Who’s with me?

Anyone else relate haha. 🤣

What are your 3 obsessions? Let me know in the comments.

Yup, and it wasn’t because of pregnancy or our love for God. I actually haven’t had a drink since 2019 and Mike also hasn’t had a sip since October 2020! We just decided that there wasn’t really a point. We also thought that if we can’t have fun or just be ourselves without alcohol then there’s a problem. And with all the research coming out about alcohol and our health, we just don’t think it’s necessary. With addiction plaguing our communities here in North America and many people hurting including children - yes, children are drinking and doing drugs at ages you don’t even want to think about - we just don’t want to even take the risk or chance on having the occasional drink especially now as parents. No judgement if you choose differently but for anyone who doesn’t drink who feels alone or that society looks down on you, don’t worry, you’re not alone and good for you for saying no thanks and bringing coffee or flavoured water to an event instead. And for those who do drink, let’s be supportive of our people who choose not to. They don’t need a lecture on why they should especially at a celebration and they don’t need “just a sip.” No is no my friends and let’s keep it that way. 🩷
