Canada travel diary pt 3 • Passport Wanders

We talked a lot about all sort of things, their family, my family, politics, travelling in general and what I had planned on doing today. I find older buildings really beautiful and enjoy seeing them, the architecture just always impresses me and it is interesting to learn about how a building like that was built 100’s of years ago (It was constructed in 1911). He is very knowledgeable as he has lived in Toronto for many years, and he brought many printed out slides to be really engaging with the group, and to tell a bit of history about Toronto and the places we visited. I definitely had a great time today and I am so happy I made some new friends 🙂 That is definitely also one of my goals of this trip- to meet new people and make friends.

My room ( a big room with a queen size bed, dresser, desk and all) and their home is sparkling clean, and they have already given me lots of recommendations of where to go and explore 🙂 Patricia has also explicitly stated she wants me to let her know if I am going to be back very late, because she worries a lot as a mother herself You sit alone at a restaurant, the bus, streetcar, you name it, someone will almost always come up and talk to you 🙂 Today’s sightseeing consisted of several things- mainly walking around and figuring out the public transport system, which I will write more on in the Toronto dedicated destination page 🙂 I got a ticket for the sightseeing bus tour, and this is what the remainder of the sightseeing of the day was spent with, being on the bus and being in awe at the sights of a new city. After the boat ride, I went back on the sightseeing bus for a bit and then went to get dinner and explore in Toronto’s underground city, PATH- and this is definitely also worth exploring!

I had done a bit more research on how to save money to see attractions, so I went to downtown Toronto again, to Ripley’s Aquarium and got a citypass, including a ticket to the aquarium itself 🙂 There is also a lighthouse on the island, called Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, which is one of the oldest buildings in the Toronto area, and is famous for the “ghost” story of its first keeper 🙂 I ordered and got my food quickly, but no waiter/waitress came to ask about the food or anything when I had received it,  and pretty much only spoke 5 words to me. A waitress stuck my bill in my hand before I had even finished eating, and when I went to pay the cashier herself was eating and didn’t look at me for a good 10 minutes before she took the money and gave back the change without saying a word to me.
