Let’s Get Casual + March Recap

Mocha basking in the spring sunshine // all the little girls in Joey’s dance class got to try on their recital costumes // we took Joey out for an ice cream sundae to celebrate completing her potty chart After seeing the moodboard, I’m excited to see Studio DIY’s kitchen when it’s done. ) there’s no way she’d climb a ladder to the top bunk that she says she wants because she won’t even climb a ladder at the playground, and b) there’s no way our kids would get any sleep if they were in the same room. * Since we all had colds AGAIN this month, particularly nasty ones that lasted weeks and put me and Andy both on antibiotics, I bought every kind of orange at my grocery store and made this citrus salad from Freutcake

Cabin Master Bedroom — Photo and Video Tour!

The listing popped up about 2 hours after we had just gotten back to Cleveland from a trip to Traverse City, where we looked at another house we didn’t really love. Looking at the house that way, we weren’t totally sold on it, until she walked up the stairs and showed us the upstairs bedroom in the A-frame section. There’s actually only neighbors to one side — and no room to build on the other — so we are guaranteed privacy at this house. Either way, I cannot wait to wake up in this room as the sun rises, and I think it’ll be a real selling point when we list it for rental.

Cabin Bedroom + Bathroom — Photo and Video Tour!

the original log cabin part where the living room and kitchen are, built in 1972 (if I remember right), and then a sort of sideways a-frame with the bedrooms and bathroom, built a couple of years later. Andy bought them at our neighbor’s garage sale a couple years ago “to play old video games,” which I don’t think he has ever done… haha, sorry to throw you under the bus, Andy). Once again I really like the wood ceiling and the original light fixture that you can see running along the ceiling, and one of the best parts is that door at the far end Come back on Friday and see the final room tour, which is the room that made us want to buy the house!

Cabin Living Room + Kitchen — Photo and Video Tour!

, we’re going to break it up into three separate posts, the way the house naturally divides: the living room and kitchen, the downstairs bedroom and bathroom, and finally the master bedroom upstairs. The living room and kitchen are in the original log cabin part of the house, built in about 1972. There’s basically four separate spaces in here: the sunken living room with built-in sofas, the galley kitchen, a dining area, and a space that we can’t quite figure out what the architect intended (which is where we’re standing while taking the photos above). The two couches are “built in” to the stone, but we’re pretty sure they’re essentially regular couches without legs.
