5 ways to use stencils in your home decor

If you know me, you know I love giving each room a little pop of something special and stencils are a budget-friendly way to do so. There are so many great options for stencils to use to create a really special accent wall. I’ve used every kind of paint under the sun, but I suggest Chalk Paint if you want a nice finish. Whether you have bare bones stairs that you want to fix up or you just want a change from the ordinary, stenciling stair risers can make a real impact.

DIY stenciled tiles

Paint one coat of primer over entire floor surface using a foam roller. I used Bullseye primer After letting the primer dry for the time indicated on the can, paint two coats of chalk paint, leaving indicated drying time between coats. Once again, I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint with a foam roller and applied a thin coat of Paris Grey with the Toledo stencil from Royal StencilsYou will probably have to periodically rinse/scrape off the paint from the stencil since it will build up and change the image. Let the paint dry, sweep and wash the floor with warm water and a sponge.

Camping Hammock

I was invited by Pouch Couch to try out their camping hammock, so I decided to pack it up and bring along with me to test it out. It was packed up snuggly in a little bag attached to the hammock itself. It also came with two long straps to hang the hammock. I convinced my 6-year old son and 8-year old niece to pose for some photos testing out the hammock.

budget DIY dressing room

When we moved into our house over three years ago, there was an extra bedroom upstairs that automatically became an office/catch-all for crafting, etc. so I envisioned converting it into a dressing room, especially since my bedroom closet isn’t the most functional space. I originally thought I would go for a built-in closet, but I wanted to keep the budget to a minimum, so I decided to use the bookcases I had gotten from Target and included a diy branch clothing rack that I’d seen on Pinterest. Since I was already hanging a tree trunk in this room, I thought it would be acceptable to draw a boob accent wall with a sharpie.
