Visit Frida Kahlo's La Casa Azul with Kids

The kids had recently learned about Frida Kahlo in school so of course it was a given that we were going to visit her famous house-turned-museum. Located in the Coyacan district in the south end of Mexico City, her bright blue house has become a mecca for artists and feminists alike. A non-Mexican resident ticket is $230 MX pesos (about $11.50 USD), kids are $20 MX (about $1) and under 6 is free. Frida’s ashes still remain at La Casa Azul in her Night Bedroom in a frog-shaped urn, a likeness for which she always teased her husband, Diego Rivera.

Experience Lucha Libre with Kids in Mexico City, Mexico

Our experience of Lucha Libre with kids was incredibly memorable and achievable for the casual visitor to Mexico City. While we were super excited to get 2nd-row seats on the website, we learned once we got there that kids under 18 aren’t allowed to sit in the first three rows. Time will only tell if my kids will continue interest in Lucha, it certainly has an appeal even to their stickler, pacifist mom. Freebie Transportation Worksheet for Kids

If you’ve ever thought, hmm, what I’m really missing in my life is more travel-themed educational material, than this is your day. They have a ton of material for kids of all ages, in all kinds of themes to make learning fun and engaging. So being the travel-lovin’ kid that he is, I knew this worksheet was going to be perfect for him. Kids will have a blast with this match-up worksheet as they learn about transportation ways and practice their basic reading skills at the same time.

A single ticket to the museum will cost $199 Mexican Pesos (around $10 USD). You can also buy individual IMAX tickets for around $5 USD, or package your ticket and IMAX together for around $12.50 USD. Mi Familia (my home and my family) exhibit was filled with fun, interactive exhibits including a kitchen, storytelling stations, and dress-up clothes through historical periods. However, throw a couple of animatronic dinos, a fossil-dig pit, and a soft area for the under-5 crowd to play doctor on dino-stuffies, and you’ve got yourself a winning exhibit.
