Umoja means ‘unity’ and it’s a place in Kenya where women rule and men are banned. The village began as a refuge for survivors of sexual violence and has strict policies against men’s accommodation. Women do basic work to make ends meet they also sell handmade products to visiting tourists. Boys raised in the village are asked to leave when they reach 18.
