In My Library Tote: March Children's Book Reviews

{Boats Are Busy by Sarah Gillingham} I unknowingly checked this out as a board book, and initially thought Jona wouldn’t go for it. Yet despite the format, this book is full of facts about boats, what they do, and the flags they use to communicate

In My Library Tote: March Book Reviews

While it was the particulars of the family members' lives rather than the exploration of racial prejudice that kept me engrossed in this book, that layer added a lot of depth to an already well-developed story. My rating: 4/5 stars. {The Broken Girls by Simone St. James} Creepy, supposedly haunted broken-down boarding school for girls combined with a modern murder mystery… if that doesn’t sound like something you’ll stay up way too late reading, what does? Luckily this one kept me turning the pages during both the story set in 2014 and the part in 1950--both time periods involve a mystery, lots of secrets, and even a possible ghost. After doing some thinking I realized that it’s because this book isn’t set in Three Pines.

Currently: April

I can't deny that this is one of my very favorite months of the year, which I'm sure is mostly because it's my birthday month. The beginning of the month also brings Anne's Currently linkup , so once again I'm sharing a few things I'm currently up to.spring! As a new kindergartener Jona was pretty nervous to be in a brand new school full of brand new faces, full of chaos and noise--two things that he does not love. Although the idea of having a schedule of sorts appeals to me and helps me actually do the things (in this case, post to IG stories), I'm going to try to be more free-flowing about it and just share as things come up.

March Wins and April Goals

{what brought me joy in march} This year, along with my word of the year, I am focusing on a theme each month and creating goals around that theme. Every month I’m sharing my goals, along with a few wins and things that brought me joy from the previous month, since joy is the word I’m focusing on in 2019. I had planned to wait a bit longer to potty train (she's not even two and a half yet) but in her class at daycare a lot of kids are working on it, and her teachers wanted to try with her if we were okay with it. I don't have a lot of free time, but I would like to do more volunteering at Jona's school when I can.
