Road Trip Snack Packs – Traveling with Food Sensitivities

Here are some of my GO-TO items snack-pack ready items that don’t require refrigeration. *Note – not all of the items listed below are completely Plant Paradox compliant items, but sometimes we have to make due and adjust as best we can with what is immediately available, keeping in mind that I have sensitivities and not anaphylactic reactions. I don’t know why or when I developed such a strong liking of cookies, but I’m pretty much a cookie monster. I said peace out peanut butter a long time ago, and sadly had to say goodbye to my beloved peanut butter cups (you know which one’s I’m talking about).

How to explore Iceland

This trip was described as a “backpacking” excursion where we would be going on long day hikes between 8 to 12 miles each day to take in all of the awe-inspiring beauty that the vast landscape of Iceland has to offer. We also learned that one of Jeremy’s credit cards had an international transaction fee that we didn’t know about, so we dedicated one of my credit cards to all of our spending in Iceland. We didn’t research as much as what we could/should have other than hearing about The Blue Lagoon (which was a little too far away for us to go), partially because we knew our guides would take care of everything once we met up with them. We knew we would be up with the sun in the morning and had a long first day of hiking with our packs ahead of us.

Shells all around! From beachcombing to turtle watching. – Jupiter, FL.

I usually just lay down on a towel inside the tent when I manage to sit still, which is never for very long because I love to explore the beach. These random sun showers can happen at any time, but thankfully they usually pass pretty quickly so there’s no need to pack up and head to the car, especially when you have that awesome tent to seek shelter in. So if you happen to by lucky enough to find a whole one, check to make sure no one is home and definitely do NOT take it home to add to your saltwater tank that has other living things in it. If you manage to continue on past all of the shells, man o’ war, and sea turtle nests, about a half-mile down the beach (I’m estimating since I left my Apple watch at home that day to try and get rid of my ridiculous tan line)

Botanics & Beyond at the National Garden

The next section we headed to housed some intimate water features with winding footbridges to take you through each planted area. Not to be missed are the exploration areas nestled in the adjoining outdoor garden spaces, where exhibits feature ideas to teach and inspire visitors how to grow their own at home. Along the way you’ll learn about all the different ways we can use these various types of plants. The last area we went to on our way to the exit was one that showed what types of plants will thrive in your environment based on what area of the country you live in.
