Fear. I believe it’s something we all face at one time or another. For myself, these past two years have been a reminder that fear exists but, in the midst of fear I can choose to give into it or overcome it but, not based on my own futile strength but with the strength of God. The Bible talks a lot about fear. I believe fear Is a reminder of our own weakness as humans. Fear demands an audience and it demands to be heard. Fear can come when you least expect it. There’s a story in the Bible that always comes to mind when it comes to fear. Elijah, Elijah was a prophet of God. He had just defeated hundreds of prophets of Baal. He was a fearless warrior for God. As he witnessed the power of God, he got wind that Jezebel an evil queen wanted to have him killed. He cowered! I read this and I’m like what!? Elijah are you kidding me? You just saw the power of God! He just literally rained down fire from heaven and you witnessed that! How could you be fearful? But then I’m reminded I too, am just like this. I can be at an event with a thousand teens raising their hands and praising Jesus, and feel the presence of God so fiercely and then the next couple of days get tragic news about a student and I want to cower in fear. I start to question the power of God and doubt His goodness just as Elijah did! But does God just rain down fire and obliterate Elijah? No, He provides for him. Friends, we are not alone in our fears. Rather they be irrational or very real. And most of all, God doesn’t get mad at us for being fearful. He walks with us in those hard questions, in those moments of doubt. Over and over He commands to not be fearful to the Israelites because He, the Gos of the Universe is with them. We can be comforted by the fact that He will meet us in those moments. He will comfort us. We don’t have to live in fear because we serve a BIG God! We serve a God who is compassionate. Yes, we will have those moments where we are on the mountaintop completely fearless, but we will also have those moments where fear threatens to overcome us. But, we serve a God who is in the midst of both! Take heart friend!

Me and this incredible man @lo_sanmiguel of mine just celebrated 10 years. This man of mine whisked me away for a surprise trip to @visitsandiego! We had the most incredible time. We went snorkeling, ate tons of yummy food, spent time just reconnecting, went go karting, body boarded, walked the pier and he even surprised me with a new engagement ring. I am in total awe and reminded of how blessed I am to be married to this man. Here’s to another 10 years and many more. ⚠️ LONG PoST! There’s something so incredible about being in the mountains. For me, my soul feels most refreshed in the outdoors. It’s where I am reminded of the majesty of Christ. As I look at these mountains I am reminded of how small I really am, I am reminded that as insurmountable my problems may seem at the time my God is so much bigger. As I looked at these mountains I am reminded of the Artist that God is. How he uniquely formed each peak with its crevices and valleys, how He created the waterfalls most seen and hidden. How He cares for the wildflowers in both the valleys and the tops of the mountains. As I reflect on this, I am reminded that He does this with people, too. Each person is uniquely made in His image. He crafted us with our quirks and flaws to be an image bearer of Himself. This is the way He intended. Why is it so easy to marvel at a wildflower or a tree? And yet, we look in the mirror and see nothing but shame and regret. We pick and poke. We point out the flaws and believe the lies. We put down our Artist by putting ourselves down! We compare and fight and put each other down! I am guilty to of this as well, there are so many times I look in the mirror and point out the fact that I don’t look like I did when I was 20. I point out my flaws and lines. I put myself down. Friends, why do we marvel at the creation of God in nature but we can’t marvel at the fact or praise our Creator when we look in the mirror? No, I’m not talking about in a conceited manner, but I am talking about what if when we look in the mirror we see ourselves as image bearers of Christ and we have a mission. And that mission is to show a lost world that hope is only found in Jesus. What if we would see one another not as competition, but rather as a team member on the same mission as us. This is my go to ring. I never take it off. It reminds me of a shield. As believers we must live by faith, and as I mature more in my walk I’m reminded of this. When the world doesn’t make sense… have faith that God has it. When a friend hurts you.. have faith that God will take care of it. When life seems to throw you curve ball after curve ball.. have faith that God is using each and every circumstance to mold and shape you into His image. When life seems unfair… have faith that God is using all things to work together for the good of those who are called according to His purpose. When trust has been broken.. have faith that God makes beauty from ashes. Friend, if you’re struggling have faith that God will use even the horrible situations for His glory.
