I’m Hollie. I’m a sub elite runner with a half marathon PR of 1:22. I’m a swimmer, hiker, and healthy get. I work in run specialty so have a strong understanding of the running industry outside of social media. I’m also an aviation nerd and getting my privates pilot license so my husband and I private fly in cessnas often. I’m also a military spouse and cat mom with 2 adult cats I adopted I. 2019.
👏Claps 👏for me. Out the door and showered before 7:30 am. A true Friday miracle after this very busy week. I love this time of year in the desert when it’s light at 5:30 and not 110 degrees yet 🌶️🥵 Also loving these new @tifosioptics Selca sunnies. Though the reflection of vast desert was cool (so enjoy this awkward face closeup 😂). Happy Friday!
I was excited to try the Puma Velocity Nitro 3. I haven't tried many Puma running shoes, but they are always one of the most requested brands to review. In the last few years, Puma has really come back punching in the running industry, especially in women's distance running. They have so many elite and pro athletes! Before trying the Puma Velocity Nitro 3, I had a few questions:...
I was curious about FlexPro Meals after seeing numerous Facebook and Instagram ads, so I finally decided to try them. I'm no stranger to meal delivery services and really enjoy them for making lunches and occasional dinners easier. Since I work full time, I am usually exhausted by the end of the day and cooking is not what I enjoy spending my time doing....
I was really excited to try the adidas Prime Strung X 2. If you've never tried them, they are a super shoe with a huge stack height. Coming in with a stack height of 50 mm, they are technically illegal to race in, but they provide benefits for training and recovering. The latest version boasts improvements from its predecessor, offering better stability and comfort....
I wasn't sure how the OC Half Marathon would go. After getting sick for a couple of weeks, I was uncertain about how my body would handle a half marathon. I'm not someone who can feel sick, then magically gut out a personal record. Before getting sick, I fully believed I could finish under 90 minutes. However, having contracted a throat virus, missing some training, and not being fully recovered (not contagious or ill, of course, but still experiencing congestion effects), I was really unsure....
I was excited to try the Chirp Wheel XR 4 Neck and Headache. I've heard a lot of good things about Chirp, so I was pumped to try them for myself. I sit at a desk most of the day and swimming gives me tight neck muscles, so I figured this might be the perfect foam roller for that. In the world of back pain relief, the Chirp Wheel XR 4 Neck and Headache stands out as a unique and innovative tool designed to ease discomfort and improve overall spinal health....
OC Half 1:35.12 I ran this race smart. First mile was my slowest (7:25) and I just got faster from there. Even up the hills, I was able to run 7:18ish. Although they still crushed me. Mile 11-13, I had an insane amount of mucus in the back of my throat. It was hard to breathe. And I’m glad there was no photos after the finish line for those snot rockets 🤪. Super happy with how I ran this. While may not have been the pace I know I’m capable of when I’m not congested, I ran the best race for the day…and just a smart race. #ochalfmarathon
I was excited to try the Atreyu Daily Trainer 1.2. The Atreyu Base Model 1.2 is a versatile all-purpose running shoe designed to accommodate a wide range of activities from bulk miles and recovery runs to marathon training and cross-training. Building on the success of its predecessor, the updated version 1.2 introduces several enhancements to improve comfort, fit, and durability....
April was supposed to be a month of building back after the Los Angeles Marathon. I felt like I recovered well from LA after nearly a two-week break. Racing the Carlsbad 5000 was a bit ambitious just a few weeks later. After that, training was going well and I was hitting some fast paces. Then I promptly got a throat virus, which knocked me out, and what I'm still currently recovering from....
I was curious about the CopperVibe Vibration+Heat Therapy Back Wrap. While not a back massage, it's designed to provide relief to the lower back in just 30 minutes, using compression, heat, and vibration for an effective lower back pain solution. Did you know that 80% of Americans will encounter lower back pain at some point in their lives? Traditional treatments can often be costly and ineffective, which is why Copper Compression created the CopperVibe Vibration+Heat Therapy Back Wrap....
I was really excited to try SOAR Running Apparel. I've heard nothing but good things about this high quality brand. While it may be one of the more expensive options on the market, you can't discount the quality and engineering that went into it. I've tried some expensive running brands throughout the years and they have left me disappointed. Like why pay that much for something that doesn't feel premium....
DNS I was looking forward to Mountains 2 Beach. Like a lot a lot. I have felt pretty good since recovering from the marathon and I thought I could throw down a decent time in a half. But a viral throat infection earlier in the week caused me to miss 3 days of running. Seriously 3 days is actually nothing, but I still don’t feel like myself. My sore throat is mostly better, but I feel like a mucus machine and I know I wouldn’t have run well and it really wouldn’t have been enjoyable to try and run hard yet. Plus with all this much I spray everyone in a 50 foot range and no one signs up for road races to get sick. So I didn’t run. I didn’t show and ate the cost of the half. RIP $150. I do know I made the right call, even though it was hard. Instead I explored a new trail and had a really nice, relaxing run. Hoping I continue to feel better and hopefully this time next week I’ll be at the OC Half .
While I’m sick, my plants are ✨thriving✨ First strawberries are popping up, plus sunflowers. Arugula is taking over my house. Tomatoes are coming in strong and the hottest jaleopanos I’ve ever tried are plentiful. Hoping because my eggplant started flowering I’ll get some of those soon. And frack enjoys the desert sun and the company of my plants (?) #plantlady #indoorgarden
The New Balance FuelCell Rebel v4 has been updated to be a lightweight trainer that can handle most anything from easy runs to speedwork. Interestingly, the first version of the New Balance FuelCell Rebel was my favorite. I ran the New York City Marathon in 2019 in them. Since then, none of the versions have really wowed me. They are fine, but they aren't the version 1....
